OT: How do you afford to buy so many jeans???

I just can't believe how many of you buy multiple amounts of jeans during a week. I have purchased with cash 2 of the measly 4 I own. The others I charged and paid off in time. I am just amazed when I see some of your collections. I could only wish I could afford that many. My husband is having a heart attack when I buy one every 2 months, can you imagine if I did every week

I buy them super cheap!

I like to rotate my collection. My philosophy--if I buy one then I need to sell one. If they are pricey sometimes I sell two. That way I at least make some money or break even. Oh and when you're collection gets big enough you can trade with others too.

That's a great idea.

I get girls to buy them for me.

Like Sweetie Pie said, I buy mine on the cheap too. Scour eBay, sales and coupons - I rarely pay more than $50 for a pair, unless it's a pair I REALLY want. If you're patient, the deals will come.

Oh and it helps being single with a good paying job ! I only have to worry about feeding myself and paying my mortgage on time LOL. No one tells me how to spend my money that's for sure since its all mine & I work hard for it! I buy all my other clothing at old navy/gap/banana republic outlets.

I am 37 and own my own business- and work my butt off- so I reward myself often- I have built a life for myself where I can afford to have anything I want.

I haven't been saving nearly as much as I should because of jeans. Recently, I will only buy a pair of jeans if I sell another one. I am not buying any more jeans until I meet up with another forum member in July to go shopping .

I don't make a lot of money (public school teacher), but it helps that I am not supporting anyone other than myself and am debt-free.

You gilrs are lucky. You've got all the styles and can find 'em cheap on eBay. The nices ones for men are like 300$+ up here....

So I guess it's a good thing there aren't too many styles for men, or I'd go broke real fast

I have a shopping addiction!

Honestly, I scour the internet and eBay for deals! I have paid full price before for jeans, but not very often. I work my butt off, as does my fiance. We don't plan on having children, so we spoil ourselves. All of my bills are paid and the only "debt" I have are my students loans, mortgage, and car payments. I pay off my credit card every month, so I justify my purchases that way!

I look for good deals, and I have a husband who has a nice job to buy them once in a while. I also sell stuff I don't wear anymore or us anymore on ebay or my parenting board

Honestly, most of my jeans are from Buffalo Exchange. They also happen to price all the ones that are not NYD under $40. I got some Havana Sigs for $35 =) Also cause I sold all of my old clothes to them especially my yucky old jeans, I got a lot of store credit to spend.

I am the same except i dont buy 2-5 a week. I probably buy 3 pairs a month but a large part of that is I wear R&R and it is much more expensive than SFAM. If I bought SFAM then I would probably have many more because you can find those for cheap on ebay but I never see any that I like so therefore my brands that I do wear are expensive and I usually end up paying retail and I will continue to do so until I am cut off by my parents. I figure I should stock up now because then when I have to start paying rent and car notes or whatever i will not have money to buy jeans.

omg I loose sleep when I think about finishing college and having to budget!!...but I will worry when the time comes ...yeah R&R runs for a lot more on ebay. I usually buy sfam TR and COH.

To be honest, I can't really afford them right now, but I'm buying them to stock up! I will be starting a fairly high-paying job in about a month and a half, but I will have much less access to jeans, so I'm putting it on my cc now, expecting to be able to pay it off in a month or two. (I'm still spending too much though!)

I don't have many expenses so I spend about half my income on clothes and going out. I should really save more.

My husband and I do not have children and both do well financially, but I still will only buy a pair of jeans at a good deal. I also recycle my jeans. I will wear them a couple of times , resell and buy another pair.I also never ever buy on credit. If I cannot buy it in cash..I do not need it. I am a cheapskate and jeans are the only thing "materialistic" that I splurge on..well that and the cars I drive

I'm a student but work hard during the year and the summer to support my habits. I woudn't have to work so much if I didn't shop so much Although my parents are well off, we've bought our own clothes since we were 16 and could get a part time job. My parents are obsessive about the "learn the value of a dollar and work for things yourself" thing. grr

I only have about 9 sfam, 5 coh and 1 tr. that's all I need..I don't even get a chance to wear all of those on a reg. basis....

AND I don't drink (ever), smoke or do drugs, so all the money the normal college student spends on those, I spend on clothes

^ I was going to say the same thing. I don't blow my money on booze or cigarettes or eating out every day like most of the people at school/ work, so that makes for some extra money. I'm always tucking away a little extra for my jeans. I justify it, like some people collect stamps, right? I like my jeans/ clothes. I've always supported my own "habit", I've worked since I was about twelve.

I usually only buy a pair a month, unless I find super deals.

I'm in the same boat as Jillian and chords. My parents support my education & most of my living expenses, but starting last year they made me pay for any extra stuff I wanted. I had 2.5 jobs during the school year (worked almost 20 hrs/week in addition to being fulltime student) and am doing a fulltime internship this summer.

And of course, no drugs or booze.

I tutor during the school year and work/intern during all my breaks (spring, summer, and winter).

I don't have a CC... If I don't have it in cash, then I don't/can't buy it (again, no CC)

I prioritize what I need after paying for my cell phone, gas (ack), insurance, etc.

My parents don't pay for my stuff, so that helps me appreciate what I have even more because I know how hard I worked to get them all. As a result (and Jillian kind of touched on this), I feel like I understand "the value of the dollar" much better.
