I'm expecting my first pair of TR to arrive the next couple of days. First thing's first: gotta hemn that sucker.

So have to put it through a wash first so it will shrink. How do you wash your jeans?

Turn them inside out, wash in cold water, hang dry.

Inside out, cold water (gentle cycle), medium heat. I don't wash mine often.

ONLY if that is the way you will ALWAYS be washing them. If you will be using the dryer EVER, then do so before hemming too, or you may have a surprise pair of crops!

BTW, I only hang dry when I do not want any shrinkage at all, I usually wash /dry ALL my jeans.
I also wash whenever it is needed. Usually every 2X of wear approx. Guys will have different answers, they don't like to wash..

Why do you say "if that is the only way you will ALWAYS be washing them"? What happens if you sometimes wash inside out, sometimes not?

Clarification: If you will ONLY BE hang drying them and NEVER machine drying them than its fine. If you will NEVER wash them in warm then it is fine also.
If the jeans are a dark wash, they should be washed inside out to preserve color etc. The 'inside out' has nothing to do with my statement of always washing in the stated fashion.
REASON...Heat will shrink, and original poster asked about wash/dry before hemming re: shrinkage.

On the very first wash do not turn them inside out and add about a half cup of vinegar at the begining to set the color(wash in cold water), and hang dry.

I just wash mine regular, and dry regular.

i wash all of my denim inside out on cold and then I dry on low for 5 or so minutes. Just long enough so they are not sopping wet, and to dewrinkle a little. Then hang to dry.

If you wash your jeans they the color will fade and the rust will be gone. I don't think many guys wash their jeans though. My jeans look like new if you don't smell them lol.
