Man APPLE is soo BS dude. I swear, I bought my ipod BRANDNEW also, and within I'd say 2 months or so, it starts glitching and freezing and sorts of crazy shit. I take it to the apple store and they tell you to do all this bs first, like "oh did you try to dl the ipod updater form our site, blah blah blah". So they tell you to do that first, I did and it didn't work, so that was a complete waste of time. Then you have to go to the apple store to set up an appointment to see the "geniuses" that "fix" your ipod. And they always make it seem like it was YOUR fault that it malfunctioned, like they say oh you must have dropped it, or put it near magnets, or this and that. I hate dealing with their customer service man. I went to the appointment about few months ago and got it fixed and after a month it got messed up again. I havnt bothered to go back since to fix it. But I bought apple care so hopefully those bastards will replace it the next time! phew long vent man..

iPods suck, i will never get one
Yes, try restarting like people suggested. Otherwise, since you just got it in March, they should replace it for free. This happened to mine, and even tho I was past the 1-year mark, they sent me a new (refurnished one) at no cost. Then that one also broke, so they gave me another new one. iPods are not very reliable, but I still love mine.

iPods rule!

Just let the battery die if it won't reset.

I agree - mine is OLD, and it always freezes (it was a hand-me-down, so I don't dare complain, but no warantee)... so I just 'restart'. No problem... I have an old one, so I hold menu and play for ~10 seconds until the apple appears.

what kind of ipod is it?
Ive heard the big ipods are not to run with or do anything active with because they have a hard dirve, not flash memory like the smaller ones.
I will never buy an ipod. The Sandisk I have has been good to me for a long time.

Mine has frozen a few times and I never dropped it. I just plug it into the charger and then it is fine again. I've never done the reset thing.

That's exactly what happened with the past 2 ipods I've had... I dropped it once and after that, they both glitched then died I'm on my 4th now, and hopefully it'll work/i won't drop it!

Apple will continue to make HDD based iPods for a few more generations as far as I know. NAND (flash) memory is still very expensive and still in a relatively early stage of production.

At this point in time, it isn't feasibly possible to produce even a 30GB iPod that is flashed based (without it costing at least $10,000) simply because the technology isn't available for public consumers.

my ipod has no problems. (ive had it for 3 years) check if any of your music is corrupted, maybe shitty music files fuck up ipods. so do magnets
post #25 of 29
Mine froze a couple of times, but it usually just unfroze itself after a few minutes. I think it's because a few of the songs are corrupted-because it's always on the same couple of songs that it happens on.

But other than that-I've had my ipod for 2 years and I've never had any problems.
