wow average inseam for 5'4 woman is 30"? i always thought i had stumpy legs but i need 32" and im 5'4 ... i guess thats why my bf is always telling me i have long legs for an asian girl that is my height, 2" is not that big a difference but just interesting to know

When it comes to jeans I sometimes wish I was shorter, because I can only wear SMAF long legs and they hardly do any washes! R&R are a godsend because they are fabulously long and I don't have to get them hemmed. Most other jeans I can't wear because they are just too short with heels and I do like to dress up my jeans. I love Hudson but I look like sailor sam in the dressing room because they are way too short and they don't sell the Super Models in the UK. Most of the time I love being almost 5'9" but when it comes to jeans I envy anyone of average height...I'll never know the joys of owning a pair of SMAF Flynt or Dojos because they are just too short!

buy from dailydenim. most of the hudsons i got from them were the super model length.

Thanks for the tip Ally24k! A few retailers have started stocking Hudson over here in England on the back of the success of DHs, but only in the standard length which I think is about 32". Am going to look at his auctions right now...

I am 5'3" and need a 32" inseam with flats and a 33"-34" with heels. I also have longer legs for my height. When I used to buy non-premium jeans, they often became too short in a few washes for me and I had to wear them with flip-flops.

30" inseam as the average seems way tooooo short. I feel like clothes are not made for the average height but most likely use some sort of weighted average to include slightly taller heights. ok i am a dork :P Also, I have noticed a lot of people seem to wear their pants way too short (and occasionally with boots/heels). Very annoying!

I need 33" minimum for flipflops to be comfortable. If I want to wear heels and have it look like it is supposed to...36"...needless to say my jeans are never truely long enough for my heels. Good thing I don't wear heels often!

I'm also going to guess the avg inseam to be 31-32

Ok, then I say the 'average' women needs a 32-33 inseam.

Oh, and I hear ya about some jeans- I have tried on more than one pair of COH's that were like a foot too long!

I'm one of those w/ stumpy legs. I'm 5'1" I thought that my inseams were around 29, well I measured and they are more like 28-29 for heels,(29 is almost too long and dragging) and 27 for flats and flip flops! That's almost a cropped length!! Uggghhh I hate having short legs....

^^yeah, my bf is 6' and he thinks 32 ineam is too long. i hate 30" inseam on him b/c they look too short, so we compromise and he gets the 31"

No, I explained this to my boyfriend once, as I wear a longer inseam than he does but he is taller than me. The crotch on women's jeans is a lot higher than it is on mens, so the inseam will be longer.

me - 5'2.75" and most of my jeans are hemmed to 31 inches
my boyfriend - 6'4" and he absolutely needs a 34 inch inseam.

it all depends on the individual

31-32 is perfect for me. I have a pair of 30-30.5 that I can only wear w/ flip-flops and they could not be any shorter. I am 5'6".

I'm 5'7" and I like a 32 to 33 inseam. I'm a size 24, and in sfam it's hard to find longer inseams for the styles I like. I don't get it how women shorter than me need an inseam just as long as I do. And I don't think I wear my jeans short. And I hate it when my jeans drag on the ground, gross! Someone help me understand!
oh, and my mnx that I posted are 31.5! ANd I don't think they look bad, they just can't shrink

weirdly enough me and my boyfriend ALMOST have the same inseam too i think (we stood next to each other and compared legs haha) but he's 6 feet tall ... which is 8 inches taller than me ... yet he doesnt look out of proportion? straange

Awww...thanks for all the comments gang!! My inseam is longer than my BF...but he has a longer torso than me so he's like one inch taller than me because of it, me I'm ultra short waisted. But when I wear heels he's shorter than me, tee hee, but his cool with it! Besides he's such a cutie pie!

IMO, Women have longer legs, men have longer torsos, naturally. In natural selection, men needed longer torsos to support a stronger upper body, hunting, lifting, etc. And women needed a stronger lower body to support labor. More space for more muscle!
