Lessons Learned re: Cropping Bobbys

Hi,

So a few weeks ago I lamented that my tailor had hemmed my new Bobbys too short and I was devastates because I LOVED the fit. Well, I decided to go nuts and get them cropped. Here's where I went wrong:

Bobbys are not Sammys. I tried to copy the shorter inseam and big hem of the Sammy crops. I should have had them cropped into longer capris because the Bobby's legs are skinny until much lower down where they flare out. So now I have some skinny crops that I don't really like. I even had the tailor slit the hem on one side to make it wider, but I'm not a huge fan of the result.

If someone (Luvapup and others) is considering cropping some Bobbys, I highly recommend going with a longer inseam than I did - something just a few inches above the ankles would look pretty good (mid-lower shin)

Sorry for the long post. Please bear with me!

So now my question is: should I crop them further, into knee-length type bermuda short things? Or cut my losses and try to sell them on eBay as crops? HELP!!

Thank you.

hm, how tight are they in the thighs, because if they are as tight in the thighs as my bobbys I think bermuda shorts are not the way to go.

do you have any room to cuff them? I think the cuffed look could work if they are kind of skinny.

post pics maybe?

You should post pics, so we can see how they look.

I was also thinking along the lines of Brynk with the cuffed idea...that might not look bad!

Thanks for the thoughts. I'll post pics in a bit, but I'm thinking they're short enough that the cuff might not work.

There goes $100 out the window....at least I got the jeans on sale!!

Right now they look a bit like this pic of the Sammy crops - the angle of this picture makes them look skinnier than they are, and more similar to the ones I now have:

Sorry for all the posts. Here are the pics. The remarkable part of this is that my 4 year-old took the pictures...I'm very proud of him!

Thoughts?

I honestly think they look good imo, and if I saw you wearing them on the street, I'd wonder where you got crops like that.

and good job on your 4yo with the pics!

Wow, thanks! As I was posting the pics I noticed I like how the crop part looks from the back....the front needs to grow on me I think. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement!!

To reiterate everyone else's opinions, I really like them! They fit you really well and I would never know that they weren't made that way to begin with - I think you should seriously reconsider altering them any further and wear them like they are

I like these, I kinda liked the bermuda shorts idea too though...

Maybe cause I tried on so many yesterday and just really like the style.

I like them like that too!! Very cute!

My original idea was the longer crop and cuff on Bobby, but I like these a lot! They look great! Keep them for sure!!

i think they look great too! i want a pair just like that!

After your description and hearing about the cropping disaster, i have to tell you I was expecting something bad..... But these really are cute!!! I would totally wear those. You should keep em.
Did you use the original hem or not? I've got a pair of Sevens I'm gonna make into crops, but I'm not sure if using the original hem would make them look better or worse...
You don't need original hem for crops...
i dont use the original hem for crops, but i do a little "homemade" distressing with a nail-file

btw, they look cute as crops and look really good on you!
