Yes, and you have to pay taxes on it. I asked the IRS and my dad (just cause he is smart) how much they thought I'd have to pay, and IRS lady didn't have any idea, and my dad thought I'd probably just have to pay sales taxes. I am not sure exactly how this works, but you do have to claim it because its a gift over $600.

I won a $1000 trip from a raido station and I had to claim it as income. So if this is the same, income tax on $1600 would be a lot

Thanks for all the info Kate. And I have to say, this is too funny -- i'm going to try that next time I'm getting harassed about cancelling.

So... I definitely am interested in this. Eluxury doesn't have a lot of good stuff for men now, but I'm betting they'll get more. Anyway, I'm just worried that I won't find someone to complete the offers within 60 days.

Also, should I create another email address to sign up with? Do these sites whore them out and fill your inbox with crap?

I'd totally do this if someone who was serious about it would sign up under me.

YES and YES! do not use your regular email address - use a "for spam only" address.

There are other ways to do it. My husband set up an AOL account while he was on a work trip and he had the MOST difficult time cancelling (he wound up getting JAG involved, which still didn't help). One day, he called up AOL to try again. When the CS rep answered, my husband told the rep that he was recording the conversation, asked the rep to verify the date and time, then went into how he wanted the account to be cancelled because we do not need, like or want AOL as a service provider. Got it done quick! I don't think reps like the idea of being recorded so they get things done so it doesn't come back to haunt them later.

This also worked for our cell phone service provider. It's like magic!

Tax system is different in Canada. Gifts are not taxable unless its from your employer over the amount of $500 per year. Also, in the US, you guys get taxed on your lottery winnings.... Here, its considered a windfall gain - so tax free. By the way, what is the tax rate off of lottery winnings in the US?

One more thing I wanted to add guys....if you read the fine print, you'll discover that if you do not get a referral but you successfully complete 8 offers, you get a $50 gift card. I am not sure where the gift card is to, but keep that in mind in case you do them but your referral doesn't follow through.

ughh. im confuseddd. can someone do this for me?
Im not totally sure but I think some websites like this log IP address for the specific reason of one person to pretending to be another. So make one address at your home or work, and another in a different spot like the library or an Apple store, or somewhere you are allowed to use the internet. Now I am not sure if this is true, so someone please correct me if I am wrong.

also if you don't work, ie your dependent, then your parents (legal guardian or whoever) will have to pay the taxes on the bag.

ooo..ok thanks!

There is no question of authenticity about this bag? I know eLuxury sells authentic, but is it not possible that they didn't really get it from eLux? I just know that this sounds really good...

I'm going to throw this out there - I'm from Canada, but I would really like to do this...is ANYONE willing to receive this bag for me and return it for the credit? I would pay whatever taxes would need to be paid on this plus extra for whatever trouble it is to you. If you are willing, please email me at

evharder AT mts.net

to discuss.
Has anyone else done this? I tried doing it and chickened out also. But the more I think about it, the more I want to do it.
i'm actually doing it right now, just waiting for my referral's (bf) offers to get approved. i'm all approved except for the referral and it took me about 8 days; I suspect my bf's will take about as long. i had a couple of annoying experiences with some of the offers so if anyone wants to know which ones to do with the least hassle and which ones not to do by any means, let me know and i'll post or PM. btw, total cost out of pocket for me has been about $35.
