what to do... ebay troubles

so I bought a pair of bobby's on ebay, the pictures showed a different wash than the wash I received. I like the wash, but would not have paid as much as I paid for these for the wash (what I thought I was getting the big t with white stiching and i got regular ol' medium pony express.)

what do I do?

same thing happened to me... AND mine ended up being fake too. contact the seller and inform them that the jeans you received are not what you intended to purchase. ask nicely first... trynot to sound too threatening, hopefully they'll cooperate.

i got my money back but i didn't get my shipping refunded =(

even though they were misrepresented i didn't bother fighting it. i feel like that's the risk you take buying stuff on ebay... there are TONS of fakes out there so bid at your own risk!

so you do you think it would be wrong to ask for a partial refund? thats what I want... i like them, but I would not have paid as much for them.

yeah that could work... depends on the seller. they might really want to get the jeans off of their hands. otherwise you should try to get a full refund.

Considering that BigT retails for more money than regular TR, it is more than fair to ask for an adjustment, AND to receive one. BigT is worth more, and since that is what you were expecting, were bidding on, and was supposed to receive, this is more than fair, IMO!

ya the guy was a total ass he starting swearing at me.... even though i was totally polite and reasonable.

no partial refund, but i get to send the jeans back and got him to pay for shipping.... after getting called all sorts of fun names

I am so leaving a negative when i get my money back, its not cool to mistrepresent what you are selling and then get rude when you get caught,

whoa! no way! it's crap like that that i try to avoid.... confrontation. legitimate online boutiques are the way to go. ebay peeps can be downright shady!

ok so is it standard to not get a refund until they get the item, becuase I don;t feel comforatable with that, he made this big fuss about me apparently wearign them already (which i didnt i just got the damn things last night... so there wouldnt have even been time for me to wear them)
I am just concerned he will get them back and then refuse to refund me... argh

i suggested that he refund me upon getting a tracking number... but he flipped out at that

this guy is crazy.

also he just emailed me stating: I want to make it very clear to you that if the tags are removed you are not getting a refund.

i never said I removed the tags or did anthing else with them, i just get this huge feeling that he is going to say i did not remove the tags and screw me out of money

should i send them with delivery confirmation and immedietly file with paypal using the tracking as proof?

this is so frustrating

YES! You will have to send them back first before you get a refund in most cases. He sounds like a dick though. I'm not sure I'd want to send them back right away either. He will probably claim you took the tags off and wont refund.. I guess you couldnt recoup your costs trying to sell them here or on ebay so you wont really have to deal with him?

I guess my biggest questions is, when I send them back with a tracking number and file with paypal, can he do anything to stop me from getting my money back as long as i have tracking info. because if he can't I am just sending them
if he can i think he will and I will just keep them and be bitter that I spent $50 more than I would have had i known what they were

what really makes me mad is in the auction he states they are bobby medium wash and the pics are or bobby big t in what looks to be a medium wash
and he he claiming it was my mistake for not understanding the auction even though I asked for pics and he relpied stating that he did not have time but he he owned a retail store in barrington IL, I looked up said store, found that it did exist, and decided that I could believe because hey, he runs a store, he can't be that shady... ARGH
never going to believe that anyone is honest ever ever again.

no i dont think so.

Im really on the fence about this. I know when you do a paypal dispute to get your money back you have to send back the item with tracking, BUT I'm not sure if they can MAKE him give you the money back or not.

Try asking Idalis, she is an ebay/ paypal expert

Brynk...The best way to go about this so that you do not get screwed is to file with paypal now...before you even re-send the item. That way the ball will be rolling with paypal. They will then ask you to send the item back to the seller and then you can provide shipping. He can not screw you if you have filed with paypal. The only way you could possible loose money is if he up and leaves, but paypal will probably back you anyways.
I sell under two names on ebay and ship over 200 items a week with both names...it can get really crazy if you do not file with paypal first. It takes a couple days for paypal to respond to the claim and even ask for your return confirmation number.

I would be upset too if they are supposed to be one thing and they are another...!!!!
He really should have just refunded you the difference IMo...that is. As a seller of denim too...if I misrepresent something I have to take care of it however the customer needs it to be done, and if the customer needs a little compensation I am more than willing to do that.
This guy seems super rude...File with paypal then see how rude he is

thanks so much for the advice, i got him to offer me $20 back, i may just take it so I don't have to deal with filing, but a big part of me wants to file because I am so mad at him.

Understand completely!!! At least he is finally offering you some money back...He is really worried about you filing with paypal huh??
Well he should have been more honest about the product. If he did not know what the wash or style of the jean was he should not have said anything IMO...he would have kept himself out of trouble that way...hehehe...

my response to this situation

I know this got ugly, and wish it didn't end up this way but I just wanted to say that this was an honest mistake on my part. I didn't mean to put the wrong pictures up. I didn't notice the stiching and thought they were the correct jeans.

I did apologize to the buyer and offered $20 off as good faith to avoid the cost of returning them and all.
I was not doing it out of fear or her filing with paypal. I just wanted to make her happy with the jeans she had.

I have since learned to only use my own photography on my listings.

Also, for the record, all of my product is 100% authentic. I purchase directly from the manufacturer.

Take pictures with a time/date stamp on them of the jeans directly before sending and let him know that you've done this as proof of the condition you're mailing them in.
