Having them taken in..?

Hi, I got a pair of the Swarofski crystal blue a pocket jeans for Xmas and they are a size too big (only in the waist). I have tried to go back to Bloomies (where my husband got them) as well as Nordies and Macy's and they are all sold out so therefore I can't exchange them, at least till they get them back in if they ever do... but a friend suggested I get them just taken in at the waist where they are too big (jeans now fit tight all over except a little loose on waist and when I bend over the jeans gape open a tad)... has anyone ever had them taken in? I am afraid it will ruin the fit or look... opinions?
I have not washed or taken the tags off yet but what about also washing them in hot water - will that shrink them at all?
What do you suggest I do? I really want to wear them soon and all the dept stores where I would exchange them won't have any in till end of January..???

Thats a good question....I didnt know that they could be taken in at the waist. My 2 pairs of stretch A pockets are tight all over but big in the waist too! Its so weird...Ive washed mine in hot water and dried them on high several times and they did shrink a little...but they stretch back out! Have you already checked to see if they could be taken in at the waist? Let me know...im interested! Oh also---did you check bloomies, nordies, saks websites?

Hi Hil, yeah that is so weird they totally gape open at the waist but fit perfect everywhere else... I looked on the Bloomies website and they don't have them... called the stores and none have them in...
I just don't want to ruin them if I get them taken in, bc they would have to do it on the back, right? Where it says 7 inside the waist? Obviously I would be the only one to know but still I just don't want to chance it if they turn out wrong... I will let you know what I do!

Yeah I understand...you may want to just take them to a professional seamstress and ask them what they could/would do. Let me know

Yep, I have the same problem! Mine are actually a size too big too, but if you can get them taken in, let me know!

Im glad to know its not just me...I feel like if I go down a size that they will be soooo tight throughout my thighs, etc. ...I feel like Im supposed to be pregnant or something to wear them (because of how they fit in the waist--they are stretch ones)! But whats weird is that the 100% cotton ones I have are the same size yet pretty tight in the waist, etc. --maybe they shrunk more ?!

I have some vested interest in this topic as well, as I've recently lost weight and dont want to lose out on wearing all the diesels I got when I was heavier. I hear the diesel denim gallery does alterations, what better place? I wonder if seven has an equivalent...

If you know a good tailor I imagine they could take in the waist, but it may change the overall shape of the jeans...

Yes, they definetely can be taken in at the waist. My ex used to work at Nordstrom and she told me that women had that done practically everyday. It costs like 20 bucks or something but apparently they do a really good job. If you have a pair of Sevens, and a Nordstrom nearby, you should go. Just say that you bought them from there--they wont care. I would recommend that you get them taken in so that they pinch a bit, so that when they stretch out, they become perfect. I hate it when girls' jeans sag at the butt--or bunch up at the crotch because the waist is too big. Thats why you gotta buy them as tight as humanly possible, so that they stretch out perfectly on your body!

Be careful. Some people do it themselves and it ends up looking pretty bad. It's key to get it professionally done and to ask questions about how they will do it.

Yeah I think im just going to stick to the shrinking....theyve actually shrunk a lot more than I thought or Ive gained the weight...all that Xmas food-its all good!

Its probably not extra weight as much as it is the denim stretching out on its own. I think that if there is a gap of an inch or more at the waist, then you should consider taking them in. It'll keep the jeans fitting tighter which I;m guessing is your desired result but also it prevents sagging and bunching up when you wear a belt--but mostly its about the tightness thing....i think i can safely say that no man wants to see your jeans sagging

i just wanted to let you know that i have taken in quite a few of my sevens at the waistband due to weight loss. they look fantastic if you get them done professionally, you would be the only one that would tell cause of the inside label, but other than that, it's all good!

just thought I'd share.

NO DON'T WASH THEM CAUSE IF YOU THE CRYSTALS WILL FALL OFF, MY WIFE TAKES HERS TO THE CLEANERS. MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY AND FIND A GOOD PLACE WHERE THEY DO ALTERATIONS, IF YOU CANN'T WAIT TILL THEY ARE RESTOCKED AT THE DEPT STORE.

Thanks Albert, what about washing inside out in cold water in gentle cycle?
I havn't washed them yet bc I was able to exchange them for a smaller size so they are now being hemmed bc they are so dang long (or I am so short, hehe).

Okay say that you wear a size 38, they are perfect fit.. legs, thighs, waist and everything, say you slim down to a 30 and you have them taken in at the waist. Wouldn't the rest of the jeans (legs, thighs, butt etc.) be very loose still?

SHES ONLY TALKING ABOUT 1/2 TO AN INCH AT THE MOST, YOU CAN COMPARE A 38 AND DROP THEM DOWN TO A 30, THAT WOULD LOOK AWFUL.

Yeah i was just talking about a little gape at the waist with the old pair but my new ones are one size smaller and fit perfectly... now let's say if I were to drop a bunch of weight, I think I would just get another pair altogether.
