Need advice on which "raw jeans" to buy for my very first! :)

Hi guys,

I have never owned a pair of raw jeans ever but after seeing pictures, it really got my attention. I know this has been probably posted a lot of times before but I am just curious if what brand stands out "NOW" as in currently. Is it the same? I saw lots of recommendations for Naked and Famous or Nudie. Has that changed? 90% of jeans I buy are Diesel. I strictly wear thanaz, thavar, shioner. What do you guys think of Diesel turbo 8y9? Phukette was nice enough to point me in the right direction which is Nudie jeans Thin Finn.

I really need your help guys. I would really appreciate it if you could also post links on where to buy of whatever raw jeans that will be recommended.

basically i need help on

-brand? (my budget would be around $150-200)

-sizing? (i wear 28x30 or  27x30 in thavar, thanaz, shioner) (does raw denim shrink after wash? should i size up?)

i found out there's a process called sanforizing, should i assume most raw denim went through this process?

-dry and raw denim are the same right?

what do you guys think of this one?

many many thanks in advance!! :)

Hopefully a more experienced raw denim expert can chime in as well but I think usually you'll want your true size as they can fit snug and stretch with wear. I would avoid washing your jeans. Here are a couple of other threads that may be helpful as well: this blog post and this thread.

Check out rawr denim they have a lot of guides. Raws never fit as well as diesels. I have tried haha. The turbos fade quickly but are very poor quality.

One can't go wrong with Nudie. Dulac Studio offers raw denim products in your price range. I have the slim fit and it fits like APC New Standard. I posted a pic of the slim fit here : http://www.denimblog.com/c/t/203107/dulac-jeans

I am selling a pair of Thin Finn if they are your size. They are new without tags 36x34 just check the sale forum...I am not a fan of the nudie selvage jeans mostly because the back stitching isn't as prominent. I love my APC new cure and they are a good first pair of raw selvage denim as they are easy to break in and rawrdenim suggests unbranded which is also a good choice. My personal suggestion:

APC

new cure - slim straight fit kinda slim with a normal rise (my personal fav)

petit standard - skinny slim fit with low rise (too low for me since I am a dad)

new standard - more like levis 501 with a normal rise and straight leg (comfortable leg jeans)

I agree with you. APC is an excellent choice for an entry level pair of raw denim. However, APC are twice as expensive as the Unbranded UB201 (14.5oz). The two products are made in Asia and have a very similar construction.

agreed Unbranded is great I am not as familiar with the cuts and haven't worn a pair in myself but I have heard good things. If you are looking for a price point:

Cheap Monday - style - Four (slim straight), Five (comfortable straight), or Tight (skinny/slim)

THVM - I liked these and you can get them cheap sometimes

4Stroke - pretty nice basic greaser style 501 slim jeans fit for the pair I had...

If your budget is $200 I would probably go after APC myself. I have had 2 pairs of New Cures for about 5 years and both pairs look fantastic they are my favorite jeans. Good fit and break in nice.

Nice jeans, your taste is good enough. You might want to try Naked & Famous brand too. There are many to choose from in Amazon, they are quite cheaper than the one you found. You can never go wrong with Diesel jeans but trying other brands will allow you to compare them all.
