Thavar 829B-- Review and fit pics

I had the opportunity to visit the Diesel store in San Francisco to try on several of the new washes.  The one jean that really caught my eye and I think is the wash of the season is Thavar 829B – a blue eyecon.   This is exquisite Diesel denim.  It’s about a 10 ounce weight denim in a cotton lyocell blend.  There are so many interesting details to this wash.  The color is a gorgeous combination of indigo integrated with washed out denim and denim colors.   They all flow together so nicely to make a pair of jeans that really stands out.  There is some distressing in the thighs, below the knee, and also on the side of the jean, but all very tastefully done.  In addition, there are some very nice 3D effects in the upper thighs and wrinkles throughout.  You have to really see this denim in person to truly appreciate how special it is.  Each pair is a bit different as you can see in the side-by-side comparison of 2 pairs of 829B below.  One pair has stronger indigo hues in the upper part of the jean and the second pair has more of the washed-out denim coloring.

The fit is really nice on these jeans.  Bccause of the lyocell, its not too tight in the thighs and the fabric feels very comfortable.  You won’t have to break these in at all.  You should be able to stick with your standard Thavar size.  In addition, you’ll also notice that 829B has some wonderful stacking that will make your legs stand out.    I’ve also included some shots of the lower part of the leg of the jean.  If you look closely, you can see some lines towards the bottom.  In real life, these are subtle details that add to the jean.

I think this is a versatile wash that can be worn with a lot of different colored shirts – white, black, grey, and even a navy blue.  I actually plan to wear these to work once I buy them.  Cost is $368 currently so a fair amount of cash.  For me, 829B is the complete package – a beautiful wash, great fit, and distinctive look.

Notice the difference in the coloring and hues between both pairs.  The darker one also has more wrinkles.

Man, I love the details in these jeans and superb stacking.

What a great review, great photos and amazing fit, Sanibeldude !
Really looks amazing! Nice!
Actually this wash was in my definite "NO GO" list. But after I read your positive review about it, I can only say that it looks and would feel amazing! Im so sorry that I didn't try it on while I had the chance at the Amsterdam Store.

But after reading your review I feel like I need to try it on, although the wash seems a bit strange to me. I will just give it a try anyway :)

I really want to thank each of you guys for the positive comments!  This was my first jeans review and it was alot of fun...  I tried to put myself in your shoes and think about all the information that you would like to know about a pair of jeans before making an investment.... And with these prices from Diesel, it is definitely an investment... Let me try and answer some of your questions.

I work at an organization that does medical research so most of the people I work with are scientists.  The dress is business casual so I wear my Diesels to work everyday.   In this type of setting these jeans would go well for work.  They will definitely catch people's eyes and I think you will get some compliments.  You can also dress it up with a blazer.  In terms of sizing, I would go with your standard Thavar size.  They are going to be a little looser than jeans like 888p and 811p which are 100% cotton.  They are quite comfortable.  I am a standard 31W X 34L in most Diesels.  In this wash, they didn't have a 30W X 34L so I wasn't able to try the smaller waist, but I really liked the feel of the 31W.

Straychev and Zdenal-- I had the same reaction as you when I saw the online pics.  They looked too clashy to me in terms of the colors.  However, when you see these in person, they really are quite incredible... The colors just flow together so nicely.  And they combine so well with the wrinkles and the stacking and the 3D effects.  They are a very special pair.  Of course this is just my opinion... you guys might not like it.  But I would encourage you to check them out.  Zdenal, the other thing that is so nice about the wash is that there is a nice variation in color in each pair of  jeans.  You can go with the lighter version of the wash that emphasizes the washed out denim or you can choose a different pair that has more of the indigo. I like them both.

I'm happy to try and answer other questions that you guys have on these.

saw these yesterday at the diesel store and i'll agree they look much better IRL and not as odd as i first thought they'd be. the lycocell is a turn off for me though and i think i'll appreciate other people wearing this wash and me just watch :)

Very nice...

I saw these just now at the San Jose store and I couldn't of agree with you more.

They are indeed very nice and because of the lyocell blend the thighs are comfortable.

But in terms of fitting, I still rate thavar 811p fits a bit nicer but that's probably just my personal preference.

Hi sanibeldude
Thank you for this comprehensive review will buy a pair butmay i ask something : i have read somewhere that the new thavars ran longer ; is it true for this wash ? Thx

I tried 31W x 32L and also 31W X 34L.  I would say that the 32L ran about 33.5 inches -- just a little bit too short for me.  The 34L was perfect with great stacking.  I would estimate it at 35 inches long.  This is a jean that you want to go for the extra length because the stacking is so awesome...

oh - I also like to add that this pair uses the zipper fly, not buttons like most other thavars.
