Shioner 824Y Fit Pics, Review & Opinions

Thread Starter

I had these delivered last Friday and it was the first time I saw the wash in real life. I took my usual 30x30 size as it came available on ebay and at a great price, and its probably the size I would have took my choice anyway.

When I first put these on, they came up as far as my thighs and I thought I would never get them done up, however on the second attempt later on, I got them on, done up and they now feel fine after one wear. Here are some pics....

All Saints Tonic Scoop

All Saints Fox Hoody

Shioner 824Y

Nike Sixton

I think these next two demonstrate the true colours in the jeans....

I think from the initial photos released by Diesel, I know I (and maybe a few others) thought these would be a suitable alternative for those who missed out on 801A, but IMO this is not the case. These have what I describe as an electric blue undertone to them which you can vaguely make out in the two photos above, near the rips on the thighs.

To summarise, I really cannot make a decision on these. When Diesel release a £200+ wash in a Shioner/Tepphar I tend to want it, and that can often overshadow how nice the wash actually is in my mind. I am aware of how stupid that sounds. I just cant help but feel that the wash and colours in the jeans has such a huge potential, the whiskering is heavy and the contrast on the thighs mean it is very distinct, but what spoils the wash is the dark streaks on the outer side of the thighs that run down the leg that you can see below....

I think I will keep these for now. Any opinions are welcome, good or bad!

Amazing fit and great review!

I think they good on you mate. And I understand what you mean about seeing a £200+ jeans. It's like I want to like them but sometimes I buy them, wear a bit and then sell em. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Either way, it's been a while since made a wash that I've kept for more than 6 months. Would you be able to provide a side by side with the 801A? Even in those pics they look like a darker version of the 801A. Either way, cool jeans and great fit.

Great pair, I have the lighter tone, 816h, and I sized up on them to, though they really stretched,
Sizing is depends how thigh is your style.

As you wanted both good and bad opinions, here comes the first bad. This is the first time I have seen pics of this cut, but I immediately didn't like the heavy whiskering nor the dark streaks. They give the jeans a very artificial look. I am usually a great admirer of your style and outfits, but my advice is to send the jeans back this time :)

Thanks for your opinions!
Fully agree with what your saying @ Hawk, this is the aspect that spoils the jeans for me. Have not decided what to with them yet!
@ Phukette, I can totally relate to your comment in feeling like I should like them. I usually snap our of it though after some time, if some better washes come out, I may end up selling. Will get some photos side by side with 801A!

For me, seeing the photos, it's really a great wash! I will tell more about when, next week or so, i'm going to Milan.

Only one thing, it may be difficult to find something to match with them.

But maybe it's just me, since this it's your first outfit that i don't like!

Thanks for the comments, have a look at them IRL and let me know what you think. They are a lot louder than I initially expected.
Here are the 801A v 824Y comparison....

They have a higher contrast than the 801A but they look pretty similar.
On a side note, does anyone else think that the slim/skinny cuts are not as slim as they used to be?

@leftvapor Thanks for the review & they fit great. They totally look very different from the back view. As phukette requested can we see 801A and 824Y next to each other that would be great. How is the fit on the waist ? is it really tight like 805A and 801A ?

Yes,I noticed that too.For instance, I wear size 32 in older tepphar washes, and size 30 in newer washes.I think sleenker is the new tepphar, but I haven't tried them to see how they fit compared to tepphar.

@leftvapor Thanks for the comparison.

Thanks for the review... I think I'll stay away from this pair like I did stay away from 816H last season... they are too similar and whiskers are too strong for me.  I gotta say the original 801A is still my top choice between the 3 (816H, 824Y and 801A).

From the first 2 photos i have to look twice as they seem to be slightly loose from the knee down. Compare to my 8x2 which hugs like glove all over and its the same size as all my other shioners.

You look great.  ~The wash is amazing too.  Keep it.

I bought a pair last week and I would say it is a nice fit for me, even better than my shioner 817H.

nice fit !

btw ,I can't find any differences from my 816H

amazing wash for me - i think you need to keep it.

Great review, my own opinion is to keep this pair of denim. They look great on you!
Other than that photos show that they really are kind of "louder" than 801A...

Thanks for the fit pics, as they best describe the wash!
Cheers!

nice fit and a great wash Leftvapor!

but after the 801A vs 824Y comparison i must say, i save my money and keep 801A

i like the fit but it being so "loud" troubles me...i might stay away from it in the end.

i bought 816h and sent it back because i thought the fading was too subtle.  seeing these now i think i prefer that look more. may i ask have you washed your 801As? they look kinda faded or is that just the wash.

Just looked at 816H, was not sure what cut everyone was referring to but did not realise 816H was so similar to 824Y. Looking at The Style centres photos on eBay, it looks the same wash!

Its same wash with lighter tone, imo better than 824y.

I own them since july and Its one of my favorite pairs ever, im pretty much conservative when it comes to the jeans, but this one is different, its just looks speical to me.
