My Own Denim Bar

Hi Everyone - for past month or so I've been doing a DIY project, transforming one of the walls in our house into my own denim bar.  I figured its a great way to showcase my collection to friends when we host gatherings and it acts as a great accent/decorating wall interior design.  here's a quick peak:

The inspiration came from numerous Diesel stores and other misc shops.  but It all started w/ manually torching the wood siding to give it a rustic burnt look.

Then staple the nails to the studs... measuring them and cutting them is a pain since I've never done this before.. but at the end it was very rewarding:

After the wall was done and reoutched the blotchy spots at the bottom, now its time to find the proper hooks.  Initially I wanted to build pipes just like many diesel stores and use leather straps to hang the jeans.  But after looking around I decided on these reclaimed rail road spikes.  At the beginning I thought they are super cool.  But once I got them I obviously wasn't forward thinking enough, they are dirty as hell!!!!   Obviously, they were taken off from old train tracks!  duh...

so I had to clean them 1 by 1... lets just say it sucked.

But I guess in the end it really worked...  After about 1 month or so of working on this at weekends and evenings, finally its done!

There's 24 hooks at the bottom row, and every morning I get to pick a pair out.  The top 3 pairs are my classics which has a lot of memories to me.  Left to right: Rock Republic Hanley, Diesel Rhioma 796, Diesel Zathan 772 (from 2003).  I have located another industrial rustic shelf to house my over flow jeans...

Thanks for lookin guys - Feel free to definitely add to this thread on how you showcase your denim collection!

hahah thanks guys!!!

Aramis - i think most of us on here have more knowledge than Diesel sales reps at stores!!! sad to say..  but it would be really cool to be able to work for Diesel in their operations distribution sector since that's what I do.

thanks guys for the kind words... I had asked Karacho before because he has a wicked chain system.  I wanted to make sure by hanging jeans this way it won't stretch out or make the jeans look wonky afterwards.  Karacho confirmed it should be safe.  If i notice jeans becoming wonky i'll keep everyone posted...  feel free to add on if you have your own denim bar to share =)

Hi DC,

This looks awesome!  I have one question.  What did your wife say about this?

hahaha - she's actually been really supportive...  her sister asked many times "are you really going to let him do this??"    She knows this is our passion so she wouldn't get between it.

she's definitely a keeper!
