Help me before I go broke!

Hi All,

About 6 months ago I lucked out and picked up my first pair of Diesels, the Larkee 8J4 34x34, at Winners (Canada's version of TJ Max) for $99.  The fit, wash, and back pocket design were almost perfect.  When I bought these, I was in the process of losing weight, and since then I've hit my "ideal" weight, and the 34's are too big.  Next I bought a pair of Larkee 88Z 32x32 in an outlet store in Vegas.  These fit perfectly, so I hastily ordered a pair of cheap Larkee 74W 32x32 from Amazon, which I haven't received yet, but after looking at better pictures of the wash online, I don't think I'm going to like it as much as the 8J4.

Before I go broke, I have some questions I'm hoping the experts can answer:

  • If the 32 inseam length was to shrink, it wouldn't be long enough.  I'm pretty sure the washes with a worn look won't shrink, but should I be concerned with the 88Z's?
  • Is the Larkee Straight Regular the right cut for me?  I don't like jeans being too tight on my thighs, and the Larkee cut seems perfect when brand new.  Will the Larkee's stretch out in the thigh much from normal wear?  If yes, should be getting the Viker cut and stretching the thigh out manually?
  • I don't like rips or tears on my jeans.  The only "mildly distressed" look I can handle would be a bit on the pockets or cuffs of the legs.
  • What washes should I get?  I'd like something comparable to the 8J4 but without the fake leather on the back pockets.  I'd also like a light blue wash.
  • Any other advice?

Thanks a lot!

Why do you go broke just because of a pair of jeans? So many questions on what to wear? You got to be kidding.

Each person has different taste. Ultimately it's upto you to decide what makes you feel good and what you like. Why do wear something on other's suggestions?

He's jut looking for advice. Not judgement.
Larkees like all jeans will stretch a little. I've never experienced diesels ever shrinking in length. As for viker, the fit is almost identical and the thighs will be the same. Diesel has a great selection undistressed denim in a variety of washes that are relatively cheap. Try the online store or yoox.com for bargains. Just type in larkee or viker into search box. You may even find a pair of your beloved 8J4's.
Enjoy and welcome to the blog and the wonderful world of diesel!!!

Thanks for the feedback guys, especially Dallas ;)

Phukette, you're right about the Vikers...I tried them on and they were pretty much the same in the thighs.  They actually felt a lot looser than the larkee around the waist but looked very similar on me.  Maybe this is a better cut than the larkees...

I think better try sizing down in the Vikers and a some safados before I make any more purchases!

Beware of the Safado curse! They can be very tight on the thighs! Sometimes tighter than thavar, etc!

Are there any particular Safado washes that are tighter than others?  I tried the 661D 32x32 and they fit fine.  Is the 885R a tight one?

Thx

Yea the 885R, 74Z, 880I and 882B all run a little tight. But all look great on.
