pulled the trigger on the new SODERA shirt, hopefully it looks as good as the website.
ive found 2 versions
hopefully its more like the second one, 30% US site again! thank you diesel
Sanibeldude - where are you finding these?? I was under the impression they are harder to come by now since its an older pair with only 500 pairs made in Japan...
I say yes stick w/ your size... i'm barely squeezing in the 27's today and i think I can't feel my legs.
DC -- sorry didn't mean to be confusing. Actually i was just asking how unique this wash is compared to other washes that a number of us have -- 801A, 805A, 885k, 74k, etc. I'm trying to decide if this is worth the big investment. thanks. I know they are tight (ah the sacrifices we make as Diesel lovers!), but they do look good on you.
ohhh i c - okay i was actually thinking about this earlier this afternoon. I guess 8BT is like taking greatness of many pairs and merge into one.. for all intents and purposes lets not include the fit (altho the fit is pretty damn amazing too).
Denim Thickness: I feel its tad thinner than Excess 8ML; but it feels very solid and rigid denim. Very good quality. if I have to guess its a 11-12.5oz denim. Its not selvage denim.
Wash: This pair definitely came out as a raw denim and then treated in Japan. the fadings definitely looks like sand paper down. the white spots are not white paints, its bleech spots and the bronze & green paint are actually splatter paints. Having said this:
74K vs 8BT: 74K's green dot is sewn on and white is paint splash (not bleeched). and 74K denim gives this weaving pattern where 8BT does not. 74K feels tad thinner compare to 8BT.
805A vs 8BT: 805A definitely uses different dye. To me 805A has a bit more warmer tone dark blue w/ very sight tint of bronze; as 8BT is cooler tone dark blue (closer to 74K). 8BT came out as raw dye (i am guessing) and then hand sanded down to give its worn look and honeycomb in the legs
thanz 887K vs 8BT: Now 887K definitely has some similarities to 8BT in terms of color tone. If you ever seen 887K in day light its actually got few different shades of blue mixed in there w/ some black. Overall 887K is darker than 8BT, and feels like it has resin coating (similar to 817H). 8BT also obviously is more faded than 887K in many ways. 887K is darker and has wrinkles where 8BT is more 'clean' in that aspect.
Excess 8ML vs 8BT: I think in terms of quality they are definitely comparable, except 8ML feels more machine treated, more generic, where 8BT you can tell is more hand crafted piece of art. But the details and stitching they are quite similar. 8ML of course is dark blue w/ knee fading. very versatile pair.. 8BT is more artsy.
Nudie Thin Finn Oraganic Dry ercu embo vs 8BT: Comparing to my 3 yr old Thin Finn dry denim that i haven't washed yet (man it stinks but i sun tan it and air them), i can see some whiskers and honeycomes developing that's quite similar to 8BT. Thus I was very impressed w/ the fadings of 8BT; it really looks like you broken these jeans in yourself (but you didn't). 8BT also is much better quality (similar thickness to Nudie selvage) and it hopefully won't rip like Nudies organic dry denim does.
okay i'm just blabbling now.. sorry thanks for reading.
Wow DC you really went above the call of duty in your analysis! You really know your denim... thanks very much for your breakdown of these jeans. It sounds like a wonderful wash with great qualities. Is Ebay the only place to locate these? Also, I've struck out so far in my quest to find a pair of Thavar 886B in my size -- 31W X 34L. The U.S. diesel store network is out of this wash. Any suggestions on where else I might look for 886B? Ebay doesn't have it. Thanks dude!
Picked the legendary DBG Exess 8BT... trying to loosen them up a touch i am about 0.5-1" tighter than wanted... but I think it'll loosen.
I must say - this pair is everything what people have claim it to be. the fading is very authentic and matches one of the worn out raw denim. The paint splashes are subtal but its done very tastefully. The blue is mixed with many colors when you see it under sun light the jeans just bam.
the fit is truly amazing (other than me too fat). so my mantra for this pair is; DBG 8BT doesn't fit you, you need to loose weight to fit DBG 8BT. one quick photo. the photo doesn't do it justice. Aahz's image is closer to what it really is.
Where do you get a pair of these ?
Guyz, I know this is a bit off topic but does a DRR FR55750 sign above the size tag on a pair of diesels and DRR as general mean they are defective ? I've heard that before but I don't know if it's true.
Shed some light on that matter.
