Diesel Safado 71J fit pics

I bought these for $105 shipped. I talked the seller down so I was happy about that. I have been wanting the Thanaz 73j but decided against butt dragons. besides I couldnt find any in my size. So I figured the Safado would suffice. I couldnt find them either. So since the 71j was very similar  I pulled the trigger. I am very happy. If you dont have a lot of money to spend but want a great Diesel classic then go for these. You can buy on ebay for $125. Size down to your lowest Diesel size for sure because from what I hear they stretch. BTW, the wash doesnt get justice in the pics. Better in person. I tried to take some up close anyways so you can see some of the cool sandblasting details.

You had a pair with no much holes and abrasions and stuff. Mine is more sandblasted on the thighs and have more holes, they are more "distributed" along the leg (not saying one is better than another, some prefer their pairs more destroyed than others).

 

This wash has lot a variation from pair to pair and they were different batches, some bluer than other, some greyer...but yeah, classic wash, definetely keeping my 71J for a while ;)

 

I'll post my pair in the next few days. I had to take them in in the hem, they were just too baggy in the lower leg, almost 21cm in the hem, looked like bootcut ^^ your pair looks like is no exception.

I took 'em down to 17,5/18cm, look great now.

 

I got mine from yoox, like 100€ something like that.

 

You took a W28?

71J is great... Unfortunately I have it in a Zatiny that's too big for me... and Zathan, which I wouldn't mind, but the bootcut looks larger than normal.

I used to have a viker 71J, but it became too big for me. Then I sold it for like $60 on Ebay :(

Yes I saw the pics of this particular one before I bought it. I wanted one specifically that did not have the hole on the back leg. So this was perfect for that reason. I cant wait to see your pics. I will probably have mine taken in slightly as well.

One strange thing I just noticed is that the holes on your pair are like stitched or something, never saw this detail on any 71J I saw until now...is that a new detail they added or something?

cultmode only has size 28 in a 34 length, im usually 29 but you said to size down cuz of the stretch. You think hemming a 34 length to a 30 would still work or is that too much off the jeans?

I dunno. Maybe its only a certain lab. You know Diesel. Either that or maybe it was made after yours? The date on mine is 6/22/07 so it probably came out either f/w 07 or s/s 08. I really like this detail though. I am happy it is there

It depends if you're a good 29 or a small 29...I bought mine in 28 and didn't sized down...I had a pair in 27 some time ago and they were hella tight, that's why I sold it. I should say stay with your normal size.

 

Concerning the hemming, actually my pair was L34 also, hemmed to 32, still looks good with original hem. Hemming from L34 to L30 is a lot though. If it will still look good also depends on the pair you get...sometimes the wash can look akward if hemmed so much. That's a risk you have to choose to take or not.

does anyone know how the holes are made on this wash? i've always been curious as to the technique diesel does. i wish they'd do it again on a new wash. going by the pics on the diesel website i thought 885S was gonna have them, but no cigar in reality :(

I have had them since 2007. These pix were taken in 2010 when I climbed Snowdon.

 

I found that the Safados fit quite tight in 71J whereas the Zathans were more loose.

Stitching over the "ironpatched" hole is suspicious, I dont have it on my thanaz, didnt have it on already sold slammer and also I didnt see this before. Weird...

why suspicious? They are obviously authentic. There is no question there. Do you think the previous owner put them there?

 

 

eta---it looks so professional and it goes together so well with the jeans that I would be surprised if it is after market. Still, its a nice touch if so.

They are after market. I flipped them inside out and took pics and the stitching is not the same color as the rest of the garmnet.

My 71Js have blue iron on patches with no stitching. The jeans may be authentic but the patches are not original. Here are my Safado 71J

Maybe they decided to stitch the rips to prevent the iron patches to come off after certain number of washes and/or to prevent the holes of getting bigger or something like that but it ruins it IMO, I prefer when the holes are let as is without further stitching or something.

 

Tomorrow i'll post my pair and compare the fabrication date/lab.
