Long time seeker. Diesel wash recommendation.

Hello,

I'm a member of authenticforum and I've been following these boards for years. Denimblog appears to have more insight on the Diesel brand. So allow me please to essentially repeat what I already asked.

My first pair of Diesels was the Zaf 796, which I bought almost 10 years ago. Ironically, I still have the jeans in my closet - after probably hundreds of washes - and wear them occasionally as my "beat up" jeans; garage work, etc. At this point, they have too much flare for my taste.

Throughout the years, I bought and tried everything from True Religion to Guess. None of those fit me as well as Diesels do. The funny part is that back in the day (several years ago), most of the Falcon Premium Guess jeans had identical back pocket design to Diesel. Does anyone remember that?

Anyway, I went to the Diesel store in Chicago and tried on many cuts. Everything from Larkee to Darron to Viker. I guess I'm an in-between kinda guy when it comes to fit. I don't like the jeans too loose/baggy (e.g. Larkee), but I also don't like them too snug/tight/tapered (e.g. Darron). So I narrowed my two favorite cuts to Safado and Viker.

Long story short, I feel most comfortable in the Viker. They show the butt off very well (better than Safado IMO) and are not as tapered at the bottom, which is also a plus.

I understand that we all have a slightly different taste and that's the beauty of it all. Imagine if everyone wore the same pair of Diesels lol. Also, I believe a lot of it has to do with individual body types. What looks good on me may not look good on you, and vice versa.

Now, I've been actively searching the forum and made a few obvious observations. Most people praise the 71 line of wash for the Viker. The 71B is probably the most sought after and desirable wash. Then there's the 71G, etc. The 8 line is also popular with the viker, with washes like 8BK and equivalent.

The problem with 71B is that it is just too plain for my taste. I'm not sure if anyone is in the same boat. There is no distressing or anything going on. I like a subtle hole or two in my jeans and a little bit of "action". It could very well be that the 71B look different in person. Many times online photos do not depict the true depth and characteristics of certain washes.

When I was at the Diesel store, I ran across two viker washes that I liked very much: 880N and 885S. Hopefully this gives you guys an indication of the sort of washes I am after.

These can be seen here:

The 880N is very vintage-like in person. It really is a very unique wash. It's a wash that I have never seen in person or anywhere on the internet before. It may not look like that from the photos (again, I don't think the Diesel website truly captures this wash), but it's incredibly sharp. The only thing I'm not too crazy about is the denim being very thick. Can you still wear those in the summer? What is the consensus on very thick and stiff Diesel denim around here?

The 885S wash also looks good in person. One thing I don't like is that they are MADE IN TUNISIA. I know that it's not a big deal to some and I realize there may be literally no difference in quality between those made in Tunisia and Italy, but there's just something about it that bothers me. If I buy Diesels, I want them to be MADE IN ITALY, if for no other reason than knowing that's what the tag says.

I am open to suggestions and other Viker wash recommendations by you guys. Thanks in advance :)

Welcome to denimblog!

So it's Viker then for you. I guess the only way to find out is to try them and buy them.

You could try them and take pix for us to give our opinions to help you choose!

Hi, if you can get your hands on the viker 8i9. It's the best viker wash I've ever seen. In fact it's the only viker I still wear regularly. It's quite thick tho so maybe the viker-r-box 8Y0 is nice medium denim with an incredible wash. And it's made in Italy. For me those are the two best viker washes that are still kinda available.

Maybe not you, but my Viker 8D4's are some of the best jeans I've owned.  Very nice subtle distressing.

They are also very [relatively] cheap and comfortable
