In the wake of John Galliano's departure, many were speculating on who Dior would name in his place. In the months following, there have been a variety of rumors on who Galliano's replacement would be, the most recent rumor was Marc Jacobs, but that rumor has proved to be just a rumor. Most recently whispers of Jill Sander's creative director, Raf Simons being named, have surfaced.
Simons' popularity has continued to grow in the 7 years he has been creative director at Jil Sander. Both his collections for Jil Sander and his namesake men's wear lines are consistently met with acclaim. While Simon's career is just beginning and it would be interesting to see him in a different capacity, it does leave the question of how Simons' aesthetic would fair at Dior? Jil Sander is known for clean, streamlined, contemporary looks, while Galliano's looks at Dior were constantly over the top. It will be interesting to see how Simon's melds these very different styles.
What do you think about the possibility of Raf Simons going to Dior? Who would you like to see at Dior?
