Hi,

I'm a size 30 in Thavar, can I fit in a size 29 Shioner stretch?

I wouldnt go for skinnier in shioner than you wear in Thavar if I were you

Will it be tighter in the waist or thighs, or both?

The waist is about the same. The shioner I have tried on were slimmer in the legs than thavar. I had the 8pn in a size 30 and it fit fine. I wear Thavar in size 28. The 30 was big in the waist but it didnt matter because the legs were so slim that they still fit well.

I have three pairs of Thavars and one pair of Shioners, all the same size. The Shioners are a bit tighter all around, I wouldn't think of trying to size down unless you want the skin-tight look.

Actually, I have found that the Shioner 8pn fits slimmer in the legs than any of the other Shioner washes I have owned (including most recently Shioner 880w and Shioner 74y) so I wouldn't base your entire Shioner sizing rationale on that one wash if you have not owned any others. I normally wear a size 30 or 31 in Thavar, and I tried on some Shioner 8pn's in a 31 and they were so ridiculously tight in the legs that they almost looked like leggings. However, my 880w's and 74y's both fit fine in a size 31, so it does vary among the washes.

Which Shioner stretch wash are you talking about specifically? My 8x6's in a size 31 stretched out enough that I probably could have sized down, so I wouldn't completely rule out sizing down as it really does vary by wash.

Yes, but you also claimed  "I wouldnt go for skinnier in Shioner than you wear in Thavar if I were you" without even knowing which Shioner wash he was talking about. And basing this on your experience with a Shioner 8pn wash which notoriously runs very slim in the legs isn't that helpful to the original poster.

thavar4ever, as for the 8D4's, they definitely will stretch out a little. I found this wash to be slightly looser in the calf and thigh area than the other Shioner's I have worn, so you would likely be able to size down without ill effect. I was in search of a black wash so I bought the 8D4's on clearance at SSENSE a while back but unfortunately I didn't keep them long enough to provide you with a better review. I ended up selling them to pick up a pair of Thanaz 8DK (which still remains my favorite black wash to this day). Anyways, hope this helps.

Dont talk to me about whats helpful and not helpful.  have tried other shioners and they have been VERY slim. Quit assuming.  I never said I havent tried on other shioners. I said I only owned one other shioner. And yes, every shioner I have tried on has been either AS SKINNY or skinnier than Thavar. So, I stand by my statement that he should not size down for shioner (unless its a stretch wash as this one is...I also did not see that he mentioned it was stretch in the first post).  Like the Shioner 8AA was a stretch wash that was tight at 29 but probably would've stretched but and been fine, but the 8nl not so much.

Do you happen to know how the shioner 74y runs?

I totally agree about when you compare sizing, you HAVE to know the Fit and the Wash too in order to do that! However, I will say from my experience with Thavar jeans, I ALWAYS go down a size or 2 in the waist they just usually run very big.  This means that if you're going smaller in another fit, on a general scale, they will probably be TIGHT on your waist.  Remember this is based on MY experience so don't think this will always be the case, but in general I can definitely vouch for this!
