Hey guys, I have been a hardcore bootlegger (lol) for a long time now but am trying on some different cuts. Safado fits great but isn't tapered, which is what I am looking for. I found some epic thanaz 8iw's online and they were the in the same size as my zathan/zatiny size (32) so I tried a thanaz 32 on my local diesel store. Holy crap they didn't fit at all (in the waist, barely in the legs). I'm 5'9'' with big legs about average build in my upper body. So I have some questions.

 

1. Are all thanaz zipper fly? That would suck. I tried on some black ones but I don't remember the wash.

 

2. I like the tapered leg/sagging look of thanaz, should I just size up to like a 34 or try a different cut?

 

3. How weird would it be if I had my zatiny's altered to a tapered leg? Anyone tried that?

As far as I know, every Thanaz and Thavar and Shioner are zip fly.It would be VERY wierd to take in the zatiny. The pocket designs are too big for skinnies for one thing. Anyone who knows Diesel would see you with skinny zatiny and just assume they were fake. Not to mention that you would never be able to resell them if you wanted to make some money to go towards a new pair of jeans. If you are looking for tapered go for Darron or Koolter.Thanax probably will not work very well for you if you have big legs. Dont even try. You may even need krooley.

1. yes

 

2. thanaz is not tappered, it's skinny straight.

 

3. I saw in some posts here straight legged Zathan or Zatiny... , if tailor job is done right, it will look fine. Not sure about tappered fit.

I feel like the big pocket designs that are on most Zatiny would look funny as skinny. It would remind me of rock and republic colburgs or something. I like how the safado through shioner all have nice simple pocket designs for their skinnier fit.

Yeah I think the cut is good but I stand by my statement about the big pocket design on the back looking odd for the slim fit.

Personally, I think that the 8IW back pocket design looks better on Zatiny than on Thanaz, however I agree with you about the pockets being too big.
If they were just a little bit smaller, it would look better overall. Thanaz-sized Zatiny backpockets would be the best, probably ^^

Nice, awesome thanks guys for the feedback and ideas! I have an old pair of zathans that I straight legged (the shark fin pocket ones, I forget the name) which looked great but I blew the knee out when a drunk man tackled me.

 

Ugh, they ALL have zippers. I hate zippers they come undone all the time and not in a good way.

 

The pocket thing... I am not too worried about it, it may look a little funny but oh well. There's just no way I'd mess with my zatiny 8iw's (my fav pair of jeans ever) but I'll experiment with some other stuff. If you guys are interested (or want to make fun of my big pockets) I can post pics :)

Also keep in mind that straight legging/tappering a jean could make the wash look akward...with some washes it could look fine but horrible with others...

Yah I noticed that a bit with the 8iw's, too much contrast near the bottom of the leg, like it goes from faded to instantly dark. Gotta be careful, I was thinking my zatiny 88z's or 8RQ's. I gotta get my 88z's hemmed anyway, think the nordstroms people would screw up a straight leg tailoring job?
