hey all!

Do you have any idea how much water a person must drink in a day to avoid kidney problems?

But i drink 8 glasses of water every day.

You should drink 2 litres of water every day plus other fluids. And avoid diuretics as much as possible, coffee, alcohol, etc. Your body can survive on a lot less but that amount is recommended.

The tap water in this town tastes awful (limestone) and filters don't help, so I mostly drink Diet Coke...I've never needed a lot of liquids, though. (I have low BP and get salt cravings, so I am probably flushing out sodium, which large amounts of liquid would make worse)

Soft drinks contain Na. If your water is hard water then it will not contain as much Na and will contain minerals such as Mg and K. If it is soft water then it will contain more Na. Drinking more water will greatly improve metabolism and will flush your system of toxins. Drink more water and less soft drinks!!!! or do whatever makes you happy. That is just my opinion ;)

hmm, the hard water could be a problem for me--my body actually needs salt! I'm in a rental though, so I can't exactly install a water softener (we have to have one at my parents' place because we have well water)
