I'm not a scientist or any other expert but 2 earthquakes in one month seems very odd. Is this it?

You're right. Disasters have been happening all over the globe in the past six months.. Typhoons, floods, earthquakes that killed thousands of people. Maybe the end of the world is almost here.

No way near the end. Human being won't even be around to see the end. We will destroy one another before that ever happens.

All this talk of gloom reminds me of one of my favorite Yeats poem.

THE SECOND COMING

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
