I've dyed items before years ago and noticed that. Any embriodery will not get dyed and also the stitching on the seams. Must be the tread/yarn they use but I'm not really sure.

Sorry for reviving the thread but I searched and couldn't find anyone who has dyed white jeans black/dark blue.  I'm trying to pick up a pair of trouleg 8ac and dye it black/blue.  Has anyone done this?  Thanks again!

I dyed 8AC gray - looks great. Since the inseam and pocket stitching will remain white (they're synthetic fibers) dying them black or blue is probably a bad idea. Try gray - you'll love how it looks.

Thanks Grondie!  You used RIT dye powder Pearl Grey?  Did you size down on your 8ac?  Thanks again!

Yep. Used two packs of the powdered Pearl Grey and kept the jeans slightly bunched and stirred every 10 minutes or so to get the 'streaky' effect.

I went with my normal 71J size for 8AC.

thanks Grondie, but the deal I was looking at for the trouleg 8ac fell through.  But 8ac is definitely on my radar now since I don't have a grey pair yet.
