First off I have to apologize, I had this interview with Mauro ages ago and have been putting off composing it because I have been so busy
He was gracious enough to offer his time for a telephone interview, and he is also trying to contribute ideas for the direction of this forum, and for his efforts I am grateful
Wolf vs Goat was conceived from 14 + years experience in the fashion world, learning tailoring in Italy, and the nicknames/pet names of his girlfriend ( goat) and himself ( wolf)
His website here Shop Farinelli's, offers people a glimpse of some higher end and well made labels, as well as his own ( soon to be added)
With an outspoken manner, and a respect for the ideals of Thom Browne, our conversation centered around his ideals and his love of fashion and designing. He is also one of the men behind the concept of "The Denim Bar"
His addiction for fine fabrics have been his main bent behind his own collection. Excellent tailoring and the finest cloth will be woven together to make a brnad that he hopes will stand out, and for what I feel is a reasonable price for the quality and care involved
His current collection is based on a 1930 depression style esthetic, a type of "dandy" feel if you will. A self proclaimed "foodie" even some of the cuts are named "before dinner" and "after dinner". The theme of "Americana" will also be prevalent
Attention to detail will be a focus, like mother of pearl buttons, real horn, bone, and other trimming materials to finish off a well cut piece. Woolrich fabrics, tweed with a modern bent will be at core.
Hidden pockets/attention to detail, well cut peices and excellent fabric sound like the makings of a cult brand, and I wish him nothing but the best
