Why are tights/pantyhose so damn expensive?

So you wear them for maybe a week and then it rips, if you're really unlucky you'll snag them on the very first day. That's $20 down the drain! Are we supposed to just keep replacing them?

where does the rips occur? >_>;
If its around the heel and toe area, you can get different kinds of pantyhoses.

Its quite popular among the fobby Asian crowd for those tights which wrap around your foot but it leaves the toes and heels exposed.

UGH I totally agree. You shell out good money for a decent pair and then they rip. I have such long legs that when I finally find a pair long enough I'm so saddened when they snag

There's this hole in the wall store inside the Yonge and Eglinton TTC station and they carry a wide variety of pantyhose for $1-$3 max. Herein lies the problem: I've been buying cheap hose.
