I'll admit I was pretty sure this would be an open and shut case especially when I heard how much evidence they had but now that I heard his statement I'm starting to thing he might walk away from this with nothing more than marred reputation.

He's really holding himself together and hired an attorney that is known for taking on unbeatable cases. Me thinks he's pulling an O.J./ Johnny Cochran move.

What do guys think?

^If you don't, there is no need to post here.

Cesar - I think he's going down for something. There's too much smoke and a lot of fire.

I think you're right - he's the kind of guy to take down everybody around him if he thinks he can save some face or curry favor with the Feds.

Yeah he comes off as very arrogant and cocky. Serious IMO I think they've got him. Tapes don't lie and it wasn't like this just fell out of the sky. He was being watched for while and he knew it. I can't believe he's got the balls to try and play this shit off like it some little mix up. Honestly he should step down and face the music. His rep is already tarnished and anyone who is smart will sure as hell distance themselves from him. I don't see anyone speaking up in his defense. I doubt he's got any friends left. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

Anyone else think it was odd or suspicious how much Jesse Jackson Jr. was in media denying anything right off the bat?

He was taped talking about selling the seat but never really did anything but talk about it as far as I have heard. This whole thing stinks because the FBI could have waited for him to actually do something and then they would have had him. I'm not sure at this point which sources can be trusted but I read something (can't remember where) about a news source getting ready to leak info and the FBI had no choice but to end it. At any rate he should leave office IMO.

His fame has ended, he wants an extended 15 minutes, more paragraphs for future text books. What don't you get?

Blagojevich is a walking tower of hubris. The sheer audacity this man has displayed over the past week or so tells me that he's unglued from reality and really has no idea what he's really up against or how throughly livid his constituents are.

Yes, he's tapped into the Mr. Burns legal team, but the long-running scope of the investigation coupled with today's pitchfork-waving political climate tells me he's more screwed than he thinks.

Yeah for real. I am reminded of Saddam Hussein trying to rally the people of Iraq against the Americans from his hole in the ground.

Grondie said it best...the guy's delusional, truly delusional. The stories coming out about him show that he's always been that way.

And as SultrySiren said, the FBI was waiting to catch him actually selling the seat before they pounced. But the newspapers wouldn't wait because they had already been sitting on the story for a long time.
