do you even read this forum? 99% of the men openly oggle at the women. omg, the brutality the women must endure lol

gimme a break
Ok, so they gawk at the women in the WATYATYLTTYTYT thread and carry on with the brutish behavior in every other section that they frequent. Tim, what you're missing is that HF is on pace to have even fewer women to be gawked at if said behavior continues.

i think you got me mixed up with someone else. my name isn't tim

i may be new here, but i've also lurked here for quite some time before joining. give me an example or proof that women are leaving due to "brutish" behavior. all i see are the same banned members creating new accounts to troll the place.

i also still don't know what this "brutish" behavior is. if you're talking about breaking rules, then call it that. don't try to say that i don't agree with setting rules not to break (because i do) by saying that i'm okay with "brutish" behavior

they have a way of managing conflict - focus on specifics rather than on descriptions. descriptions don't get anything done and only provoke more emotions. descriptions are pointless too since we can only make assumptions as to why you feel that way. specifics don't leave room for assumptions and misinterpretations.

Honestly, I believe in being a gentleman in a modern sense of the word, but there's no need to coddle women. Some things are plain rude and unnecessary: the thread involving the girl with the car (which was posted by a female member) and the thread making fun of Lorna were both NOT legitimately on-topic, nor were they constructive in any sense of the word. They were insulting at best, with no other real purpose.

That isn't to say that criticism of what girls are wearing should be discouraged - that's half the reason why we post here. Nor should it be restricted to male members being particularly careful around female members. Ideally, everyone should act their age and maintain some sense of decorum around other members - small jokes at others' expenses are fine, but downright mean-spiritedness doesn't help a forum improve.

Look at Styleforum, for example (which is 99% male, by the way). People posting there have rarely been anything more than helpful and constructive in my experience and look at how many people they have on at 2:30 AM EST: Currently Active Users: 620 (263 members and 357 guests). Their WAYWT thread has 29,730 replies and 2,974,632 views. We could do a lot worse than to strive for that.

Look at Superfuture, though. Until the Great 4.0 Holocaust, it always passed SF.

I've already taken my name out of the mix for Team Manager and put it in this hat instead about 56 times throughout the course of this thread.

there's no denying that the lorna thread was insulting. but you also can't forget the reason why it was created - lorna had also upset the author of the thread. i'm not saying it's okay to insult people - i'm just saying there's a difference between unprovoked insults and retaliation.

Yeah, but honestly, even a larger percentage of SuFu kids have been more constructive that the shit we get in HF-Chat today. Probably over 2/3 of the threads/posts made in HF-Chat recently have been total garbage, and no one even really bothers to post in the Diesel section anymore.

I wasn't aware of the fact that lorna had upset the thread author, but I doubt it warranted that kind of behavior (please link me to the post, because I might be totally wrong). Regardless, what was going on in that thread clearly crossed the line, and neither the fact that lorna upset someone nor the fact that the youtube profile was public is a viable defense. I agree that lorna handled the situation incorrectly, and that perhaps she's hasn't been a shining example of a moderator lately (I don't really have an opinion on whether she should remain a mod - I've modded on several HUGE forums before (bigger than SF) and I know how frustrating it sometimes can get. Mods do need to have a thick skin, and they also need to be able to think rationally.

The intent of Supertrash on SuFu is not the same as the original intent of HF-Chat in HF. The two are not comparable. Regardless, I took a look at Supertrash recently, and it was better than I expected lol.

they have porn in supertrash to calm them down

Didn't catch that haha. I don't really frequent SuFu that much, and when I do, Supertrash isn't the section I visit (usually superdenim or supermarket). However, you get my point - Supertrash has no equivalent here, so it's not comparable. It also demonstrates why a EAYOR section would be useful.

Also, as I have quite a bit of previous mod experience, I'd like to offer my own help to you Dave, should you find it necessary. Kile and I are already working on a graphical reboot of the forum, and I wouldn't mind becoming more involved. I've been around for a long time, but I haven't really posted as much as many other members, so I would understand if you chose not to take me up on that offer, but again, I'd like to help in whatever way I can. It makes me sad to see one of my favorite places on the net dying out.

I used to make fun of my mom for watching soap operas every day...but now I realize HF has become MY General Hospital.

General Hospital = mature content
maybe Degrasi?

I am offended by your use of the number 17. How can you be so racist and culturally unaware!? I move that we ban the number 17 from being used in any post, lest the poster be banned. And for good measure.... BAN!

Dave, no offense, but if you spent any real time in the forums you'd know that zathans_rule hasn't been on here in YEARS.
Ben, go back and read Sevs posts from a couple pages ago, and you'll see where Zathans_rule comes in.

is there going to be a limit as to how many people can be nominated for a given position?
