Yeah that's a pretty nice lookin trench but definitely won't be suitable for winter.

I kinda like their pea coat too. Wish it was a little longer. Either way, the website is sold out of everything below size L.


I like this one that I found on eBay... just gotta figure if it will be warm enough. Probably would be, with layers and whatnot.

Tony, check Burberry online or on eBay. I've seen some nicely fitted peacoats from them recently.

tony that peacoat model guy looks kinda like you but with a faux-badass goatee thing goin.

burberry! my gf and i were peacoat shopping together a couple months ago and she tried on a burberry one that was pretty awesome- cashmere blend and all that, great fit. i almost got it for her, but apparently i'm not THAT nice of a bf and ended up getting her a j.crew one instead for half the price. maybe next winter.

While I'm very surprised people found the Ralph Lauren peacoat to be "gigantic," I'd have to still suggest that you try out the Rugby peacoat. I purchased pea coats from both stores, and the Rugby edition fit significantly slimmer through the chest and shoulders.

Yeah I'm still going to try them out. I placed orders on Thursday and Friday for the Rugby and the RL Classic, respectively. Will try them on when they arrive and see how they fit. Although, based on my size, I don't have high hopes.

How can something that's been around for decades suddenly go out of style? Pea coats and epaulets are basic style elements and will always be in style. You may not like epaulets but I promise you won't need to be ashamed of wearing them next year or any year.

Because people are putting them on everything from leathers to t-shirts and it looks f-ing stupid. It's fine on an M65 or those drab military shirts everyone was wearing a few seasons ago, but it's now played out and the SuFu crowd is going to be hating them real soon.

Also, I never said that pea coats were going out of style. I have one myself, made by the official supplier to the US military...and it doesn't have epaulets on it.

I'd respond to your silly personal attack but I'm so tired of them and I want to do my part to make this a fashion forum, not a "I'm-bored-so-let's-start-some-drama" forum.

I know they've been around a while. I actually rather like them, but over the past few years they have popped up everywhere. You may feel free to disagree with this, but I think they're getting to the point of being so prevalent that people are going to get really sick of them.

^ i am pretty much indifferent to them in most cases and certainly wouldn't avoid purchasing an item that had them, yet somehow i don't own a single piece that has them. so i guess thats where my point of view on the situation comes from. i would think if they are running rampant on garments the way you see to think that i would have found something i wanted with them...

You are incapable of keeping such a promise so don't even bother. You've already tried this at least three times and I stopped believing you after the first. I am only being somewhat civil to you because this forum is being dragged down by comments like yours and the arguments that ensue.

Actually most of my style keeps me at odds with the rest of this forum. I don't wear black stuff, DH, BoO, deep-Vs, designer hoodies, thermals, raw denim, leather, etc. So I'm not sure what you mean about "learn how to think yourself"

Maybe I should have added this disclaimer for Tony - IF you care about the opinions of people like those @ SuFu (which is a reasonable assumption, given that many of our members post a lot there and buy things from there) then epaulets might be a fashion risk, given how popular they've become. They've got nowhere to go but down, and epaulets on jackets might become the next rips on jeans; ie. something that one bought and is later too ashamed to be seen in (like JSKidder/ACO/Mihalis/Exhausted in Diesel jeans)

Damn, so I received the RL Classic Pea Coat today.

As expected, it's big. Everywhere, lol. Sleeves are probably a couple inches too long, shoulders are a little too wide (almost 1"), torso is too big, it's too long, and the sleeves are very loose fitting. Considering that it doesn't really fit me at all in any area, it's not worth trying to tailor... lmao.

The coat feels really nice and warm, though. But too bad. The Rugby one comes tomorrow... hopefully I'll have a little better luck with that. But considering how this one fits... I'm not expecting anything good. Will report back.
