PayPal Payment Pending?

I just sold something on eBay, only to log into my PayPal account and see that although the buyer has payed me, I am unable to touch those funds for 21 days incase a "claim or dispute" is filed. They would however like me to ship the item immediately. What's up with this? I have over $1k worth of funds sitting in some imaginary holding cell for a month because PayPal decided that would be "safest."

yeah paypal started doing this to people who have not completed many recent transactions or for a variety of other reasons. if your sale was over 1k that might have triggered it as well. the money is there though and will be released a few days after delivery confirmation shows it was delivered or soon after the buyer leaves you positive feedback.

I just purchased something and sent payment but it tells me that payment has been initiated and can't be claimed until the seller has accepted?

It does say that my payment cleared my end and funds were sent but not claimed? I haven't seen this before either?

oh yeah, it did also say that the seller has some transactions to complete with pay pal first. Maybe they are new to paypal?

I'm guessing you sent an e-check? There's a glitch on Paypal on all e-checks right now that has this effect. I've received three such payments that cleared and said "Unclaimed", so I called them two days ago and they said it would be fixed by yesterday, but that's obviously not the case. Today I did a google search just to see if it was indeed "system-wide" as they told me, and it seem that that is the case.

the fact it's 1k is most likely why.

If you can show it's delivered with signature they'll free it up in a few days.

doesn't matter if there is positive feedback though as people can initiate disputes for INR regardless of positive feedback being left or not.

just don't ship with shitty USPS because they'll put 'notice left' and even when the guy picks it up most likely they won't even scan in the signature and then you'll really be screwed because you can't prove it was delivered.

I did not send an e check this time. I used my pay pal credit card. It must be doing the same as with the e check.

Has anyone here have to "claim" their payment as the seller yet? I am just wondering what it looks like/how it works from the seller rather than the buyer.
