(i put this here since it's more of a discussion rather than a quick comment for the shoes/boots thread)

I just got off the phone with the Wings and Horns show room - who distribute W+H for the US. They said that there will be no W+H boots made in brown. They said a small batch was made as a trial run, but brown was "too expensive to produce". So it's only black. Which is why i haven't been able to find brown.

So the questions:
1) Should i buy the W+H service boot in black even though i really wanted a brown boot? Is it pointless to have a black boot? I've come to think that brown is just all around better - but maybe i'm mistaken.

2) I'm after the look in the photo - a traditional lace-up 'work boot'. Any recommendations? If so, provide a link or store name? I haven't been able to find any Guidi or Augusta that look like these, and CCP is no more from what i understand.

I am pretty sure CCP still exists, it is Carpe Diem that no longer exists.

I have seem some of the new augusta's at Atelier, and I think they are similar to the boots in the picture. The have a lace up work boot. However, you can not compare the ones at A, to the W+H or the Carpe Diem's. First off they are over 2 grand. They are have a leather sole. and I think this season's augusta lace up is made of calf or horse leather. But Barney's carries Augusta too, but with a wooden sole, and not cordovan leather. But if you you don't care about price, I would say get to A, or call them, and get the Augusta's

yeah, i'm not paying 2K for boots....W+H are in my range

can you clarify what you mean about the Augustas Barney's has? There's no way it's a wooden sole. It's gotta be a leather - so it can be resoled at a shoe repair.

Well, at barney's most of the Augusta boots are around 1,600.

At atelier, they are around 2,200.

I am pretty sure that the ones at barney's are made with lower grade leathers.

For example, Atelier has augusta's made from cordovan leather, calf skin, and this season one with snake skin...

^ Yeah, i got ya. Can you post some new pics of your W+H boots worn? Possibly worn with some raws? I wanna see how jeans sit with the laces. I'd have to buy these sight unseen (just pics) so i'd like to really see what they're like worn. (i know you have a pic up from when you first got them - but some new pics would be awesome).

You're not mistaken, brown is better. Especially for a rugged boot like this one. Kubie's YSLs are one thing...but these are the kind of boots that should only be made in brown so the fact that they're only making black just seems silly.

It may be in your range, but it's too much money to spend and not have exactly what you want, IMO.

jskid...what are you're thoughts on black 'work boots'? should i just find brown in a different brand - or go with black W+H?

i MUCH prefer brown. if i were you i would look for a pair of ndc laced boots. not sure if there is one this season but they do them occasionally. also check out the paul smith ricard boot.

 I'd like to purchase a boot similiar to the CCP Tornados. Do you have any suggestions? or just bite the bullet and folk over the 2K if I can find my size.

Also looking for something like the Mihara Yasuhiro Racing Boot as well.
