New to Dry/Raw Denim...Que Malo :-(

As the title may (or may not) suggest, I have absolutely no idea what I'm stepping into as I hunt for an alternative to the distressed-denim I once called my own.

In essence, I'm looking for a good quality jean (raw/unwashed/dry [differences among all three?]) with a fit similar to Diesel's Viker/Safado...

Nothing too outlandishly tight, as I plan on wearing these jeans to work--tight jeans in an Elementary school would easily attract unwanted questions.

I'm told there are cheaper options to the Dior and Evisu crowd, help me to see the light!

raw, unwashed and dry refer to the same thing.

If you want cheaper, check out APC, Nudie and Naked and Famous.

But you're better off spending a little more money. Most if not many of these jeans try to mimic classic mens cuts which means regular or high-rise and roomier than most diesel cuts. That said there are some brands which make modern cuts, but you wont find anything really perfectly analogous to any of diesel's mens cuts. Your best bet is to just go up to SF and try some stuff on at SelfEdge

i think a pair of apc new standards would be a good place to start. though i have a feeling dior would fit you quite well given your thin legs and narrow hips.

I've tried on a pair of Diors, fell in love...but that price, that damned price!!!

for apc you will want either diesel size or down 1. they will be tight in the waist at first but they will stretch as much as 3 inches. if i were getting apc i would get a 25.

you should be wearing New Cures not New Standards. i wear a 26 in thanaz (bit loose on thighs) and 25 in NC fits me perfect after stretch. fucking ridic at first though.

seriously though, ns may be a hair loose, but nc may be a hair tight for what you want.

to be really honest, if you really like the diors you should just get them. especially if you are going to wear them a ton. i know i would want to wear the jeans i really want to buy and not a pair i settled for. the apc are still $160ish so not cheap, and the raw diors don't really cost much more than a lot of the diesels these days. and if you get into the raw thing you probably won't be looking to buy any more jeans for quite a while anyway, thus saving you some $$.

just my 2 cents.

^^^sIZE 25? Shoot, I could probably give you a piggyback ride if you need to save money on gas I am a big ol house sized 28/34.

Maybe wait until you can go to selfedge, so many different types to see! I am jealous.

I'll bet the Diors were perfect, but to teach elementary school in? Depending on where you are teaching of course...

the cheaper alternative is apc. the cuts are very similar (ns is similar to 21cm, nc is similar to 19cm), although definitely not the same. the thing is though, you are still going to spend $160+ for apc so its not like they are cheap. just cheaper. and the somet suggestion is a good one, but those are almost $300 so really not any cheaper. and the rise is scandalous low, definitely not appropriate to wear to a school.

best advice would be to go try on some apc and see what you think. if you like them lots then there you go. but if you like the diors you tried a lot more i wouldn't pay $160 for a pair of jeans when i could spend a little more and get the pair i really want. hell, just sell a pair of diesels on ebay to cover the difference...

you *can* cop a pair of new mij diors from thegrapist for a little less than 300. it's a rebate though and you get 80 bucks back in 60 days or something

but if you're not going to buy diors go with apcs. don't bother with nudies imo, i've heard a ton of bad stories, they're cheap (quality wise), and the back pockets are heinous

Speaking hypothetically [cough]...what sizes should I consider in Dior?

For that matter, what "cuts" per-se?

Dior, APC, etc, etc...: Cut/Size would be helpful in your suggestions

^21cm is more like Safado/Viker. 19cm and 17.5cm would be too light in the leg opening for what you're looking for. And I think the 21cm would suit your build a little bit better, evening you out. There's a wealth of info in the Dior Homme Denim thread in this section..check it out! All the cut/size info you need will be in there. Cheers!
