Coldplay vs Radiohead? - opinions please.

Thread Starter
I was going to see both of the bands this summer, but because of certain circumstances (being broke, going on vacation x2 and studying for boards) I'll have to choose just one.

My question - has anyone seen them in concert and if so, which one should I go see? I absolutely LOVE both bands and I'm having the hardest time choosing one over the other.

Although I like both, Radiohead by far.

radiohead. no-brainer. besides the fact that coldplay are an average radio-fluff pop band, their live show is far from impressive. a radiohead show, on the other hand, is something that CANNOT be missed if at all possible. i have seen coldplay twice (neither time by choice) and besides one interesting cover as part of their encore at the first show i would have had more fun taking a really long dump than i did watching them play. i've seen radiohead 4 times, at everything from a huge festival to a very small show in a 3000 seat opera house, and each time was a religious experience.

i think the answer youre looking for kidder is: "depends, which is the more expensive show?"

Good basic approaches, but i guess we'll have to dwell on it...

- "depends, which concert offers fan-shirts in size XXS and high-end kashmir scarfs with a band logo on it !?"

- "depends, which concert is misogynous, in order that i don't have to drag the fuckin' trippy along !?"

- "depends, which concert has a floor heating system, or rather none, because i'd like to wear my boots ( Just for once ) !?"

- "depends, which concert has the smaller/taller visitors, since i really don't want to watch the concert on tiptoe, or even by the help of piggyback !?"

- "depends on whether jude law is a radiohead- or coldplay fan...."

Both are slightly overrated, but the points listed above are something to consider as well. hehe.

radiohead versus coldplay....

Radiohead wins. Fatality. Flawless victory.

RADIOHEAD. No contest. You can't even compare the two bands. Coldplay is decent, but their music is basically comerical fluf. Radiohead, on the other hand, will go down as one of the most innovative and creative bands in the history of modern rock.

I saw Radiohead last month. Their live show is an awesome experience.

I hate to play devil's advocate (not really LOL), but commercial, by definition, means something that does well in commerce, that sells, that makes money. Radiohead has sold just as many albums as Coldplay, and I know just as many people who are Radiohead fans as I know people who like Coldplay.... Doesn't that make Radiohead commercial, too?
Just a thought....

Radiohead!!!!!! There shows I heard are amazing and I hope to go to a concert one day

I personally love Radiohead but not Coldplay.

By "commercial" i just mean that it gets played a lot on radio & MTV. Don't get me wrong, I like Coldplay, but their music sounds like it's written to appeal to a wide audience (in order to sell more records). Radiohead's music is far more cutting edge & unique.

Muse....Kicks ass.....

Your kidding right ?

If you took all of COLDPLAYS good songs, it still wouldn't compare to one of RADIOHEAD's b-sides. They have broken down barriers and reinvented the concept of music, where as COLDPLAY has only given us "Apple Martin"

RADIOHEAD = GOD

COLDPLAY = one of the less important apostles, whatever the fuck his names was

I preferred them 6 years ago but it's good to see they finally stopped riding the Strokes coat tails

I was talking about the adjective "commercial".
