whoa.. kinda flattering yet kinda creepy!
Wonder if they are a member and saw the pics on here or if they searched and just used them... either way she doesn't have any pics of the actual jeans she is selling lol. Virgo when you read this you should definitely file a complaint with ebay that is just not right to use someones pictures without asking
post #4 of 24
I bet she just googled it. You can't be mad at someone for that if they don't know HF exists. However it is strange she doesn't have actual pictures of the jean itself. Virgoddess I would kindly email this person and state that those are your pictures and it's up to you, but you can ask her to take them down, or state they belong to you in the auction. I am just waiting for my ass to turn up on some random site. EEK!

Even if she doesnt know about hf she is still stealing pics from somewhere. Kinda creepy lol....I am sur you can just report her and they will remove it

I've used stock photos before in my auctions. However, I take my own photos, too. I just think people don't realize it's stealing. Ya know? There are so many pictures out there.

Whoa, I've had people use my old pictures (of jeans) for eBay auctions before but this is the weirdest/creepiest thing I've ever seen! I messaged the seller to remove my picture. Hopefully, he/she does with no argument. Thanks for the heads up, Tiff!

I can understand if people use stock pictures of online stores but this is of me in my bedroom!

Their response

"oh, ok sorry if you are offended of whatever. We thought it was a nice pic that showed the jeans off well. I'll be happy to take it down it down tomorrow if it offends you that much. Personally I don't know why you even care. Only you know it's you. The pair we have is in better shape than those anyway, so again sorry but whatever. I'll swap it out tomorrow-and by the way that pic is all over google so maybe you should ask them to take it down-we didn't get it off ebay. Best Wishes."
Geez, no need to get rude about it. If your pair is in such great shape, why don't you take actual pics of it instead of using someone else's picture?

That was super rude. How about he stops searching google for pics and takes his own damn pictures!

I'm on delay here. Is the current pic they still have up the one of you (kind of just a booty shot with a white t-shirt)? If so, I could see where they might have thought it came off a store model (the jeans look really nice and fit really well). But that's not the point, I know.

Personally, I don't like anyone using stock photos (yes they look perfect and pretty but as a buyer, I want to see what I'm buying- especially when it's a used item. As a seller, well, keep reading hahaha!). I really dislike people STEALING pics from other auctions. I don't know bout you but I spend sooooooooooo much time ironing, taking hundreds of pictures, sorting, cropping, adjusting color, uploading, sorting again through dozens of pictures to put in my SSB templates and THEN listing. Then, I get pennies for my items if they even sell. =(

If someone were to ask and I didn't have a current listing (like I already sold mine or they bought from me and wanted to relist), I am totally fine with that. In fact, a sweet member asked if she could use a picture of mine (with my body in the jeans- in my bedroom lol) that I had crystallized. I was flattered actually. Funny thing is, I had a hell of a time selling those things (size 23) but eventually they sold and I hardly made any money. The member who was using my pics was selling a much larger size if I recall and she sold them quickly on Ebay for a fortune! Unfortunately her first buyer didn't pay (it was one of those YIPPEEE sales that we all hope for) but she was able to resell them again right away and still did very well.

Sorry that guy was such a jerk. Do you have that picture stored somewhere where you can just delete it? Then it goes bye bye unless others have copied it. I know that if you host through SellerSourceBook, they will immediately shut down or remove any pictures copied from a member. They already have a lock of sorts so you can't copy any info on the template but I once had a person steal my gallery image.

The original gallery picture was of me in SFAM Grommet Dojo's, the picture that's currently in "What Sevens are you wearing today?" After I messaged the seller to remove it, they sent me that snippy response. This went back & forth once more, with me telling them that if their pants were in better condition, I suggest they take pictures of that instead of using google to find someone else's images. They responded with something along the lines of "Thank you but we'll run things how we normally do. We offer a full refund on all our items so our buyers are fully protected." She/He then went on to tell me I should "learn to chill out" and that I should have been "flattered" that they used my picture. Oh please!!!

Anyway, I hope whoever bought them gets an authentic pair.

I will tell you that ebayer is going on my blocked list.she has gotten snippy with me also
post #15 of 24
Haha, thanks for the support Tiff! What happened though?
I believe since the pic shows up in a Google search, eBay feels you can't say it belongs to you. Hips ran into this problem recently as well as Jess188. If your picture can be found on the internet and you haven't copyrighted it, it's fair game. You would need to start watermarking your photos - even the ones you post here - in order to definitively say they belong to you.
^^ I'll certainly remember that from now on!

I loathe photo thieves.
yep someone stole my butt once. someone freakin ebayer from france took a pic from here of my lowky 81m. i reported it but ebay wouldn't take it down. at least the girl was nice enough to remove the pics when i requested it
post #20 of 24
lol at least they took it down!

I have someone currently selling fakes telling people to message ME on ebay if they question authenticity!!! who ARE these people?!
WTH... why you, Jill? I don't get it.

What I love seeing is when people put in their auctions, "These are 100% authentic! I am a member of [insert denim forum of choice]" and the item is clearly fake.
^ It was RR and I have a guide up, so I guess they thought they could just link my guide and tell people to message me!

He actually emailed me back saying he couldn't change it for the current auctions but would for the future fakes he sells!! $202 NWT MENS ROCK & REPUBLIC JEANS SIZE 38 - eBay (item 130228684025 end time Jun-13-08 20:00:00 PDT)
