is it, really?

compared to the other designer denim forums, how much action on hf is geared towards TR, 7FAM, R&R, etc. anymore? partly because of the general attitude towards those brands here by the more vocal members, and partly because of the shift in tastes over the last few years, i don't think HF should be considered just a "designer jeans" forum anymore.

i feel like there's an interesting disconnect between dave's vision of the hf/hm/denimblog triad and what is really happening and possible. while the denimblog is posting pictures of celebrities in SFAM, those same jeans aren't even able to garner $40 in the mall. furthermore, the prevailing attitude in the forum is that SFAM is a complete disgrace to what most of us think of as "fashion". this concept of lusting after, discussing, and buying/selling the same stuff would have worked well 3 years ago, but i really feel that hardly anybody who wears that stuff now cares enough to talk about it (with some exceptions).

there's a definite niche open for HF to slide into- one in between the (imo gaudy) mall fashion loved by AF and old HF and the combination of ninjagoth and $1k tee and jeans fits that the SuFu aesthetic promotes. i don't see a problem with both common projects and dior coexisting with AA, diesel and converse.

i think the owners/mods/etc should accept and even encourage the increased "grittiness" of HF, maybe combining the less-popular denim subforums and expanding the stuff that becomes more and more popular. It's too late to resurrect HF as a "designer jeans" forum. it's a "premium denim and quality fashion basics with a smattering of luxury lusting" board.

I agree, partly because the "designer jeans" market has already peaked.

With the rise in popularity of raw denim, and a changing style aesthetic across the urban landscape in general, people are discovering smaller, more boutique-style jeans, or making denim less a part of their wardrobe in general.

There is action (albeit slower) in the TR/7FAM/R&R/COH subforums, it's just that they're mainly used by girls/women. Notice most of the members that post in those sections (except for virgoddess in WAYWT, lorna, april, and a few others) don't even post in HF-Chat/Fashion-Fashion/etc because they fear the guys/men with their large e-peen trolling there. If you actually go in those subforum, you can see some members with over 2000 posts that you might have never seen in the Diesel/Hf-Chat. Most of the TR/7FAM/R&R/COH members probably moved back to AF, while the gothninjas moved to sufu (chris, blackcandy3 (???) etc).

Very very good point

I see more and more mall sales with Dior, and CPs being listed. Liekwise, I am seeing a great many members here showing a far better eye for fashion as the year has progressed

I have been greatly impressed lately by anthony, Narcisco ( as usual) stinkyrat and others just to name a few. I think a niche "transision" market would be a good fit for us.

Those that arent into the overly branded in your face crap that many of the mainstream markets are putting out, yet those that wont dump $300 on a pair of Dior armwarmers when they can just put a coat over their v-necks and scraves in the winter

I like where your thinking is going on this one

Sorry to burst your bubble josh, but those little gold numbers on the sides of CPs is a listing for the number of Chucks that could have been bought for the same price as that model of CP

give it back to jskidder. He's a punk sometimes but the necessary times he's a bastard out weighs the unnecessary. Plus he knows his shit... the clothes, not the poo... I know poo better than him.

You're so sweet, but pass.

I nominate not a person but a concept. Keep sevenkid banned-for-life.

The Honest in HonestForum means we don't sell fakes here, not that we give honest opinions

^ lol we know, it's just a fun pun card to always play when shit goes down that has sketchy integrity- kinda like how the meaning of "all men are created equal" has evolved over the last 200 years as it's been adopted as the catchphrase of all movements against sketchy equality

My suggestion would be not to have sub-forum moderators but rather leave it up to the users of the forum to simply report posts and let it get handled by a simple general moderator team. Let the users decide what is and is not acceptable in their particular forum.

Someone who knows and is passionate about Diesel, which is hard to come by these days.

Rule by user-committee won't work. It'll be chaos (spectrum of acceptability) if it's user-moderated. Viewership will drop and so too will the value of the resource. I say one or two moderators with a shared vision.

Grondie or Cutup
I vote for anyone who has love for bootcut and flare like ZAF. I love ZAF. Long live ZAF.
i'd vote for cutup or grondie, not sure if cutup already has enough on his plate though haha.
I don't see the point, nothing is gonna change with new mod anyway, This is still going to be dog eat dog place where is everything is previous level !
Well if I had to choose one right now, I'd go for Mannequin, he's been wearing Diesels for 15 years.
Mannequin would be good too, bit if we're going to base it on diesel longevity, I think Begret's been wearing them jawns since the mesozoic era.
If your going to go with 2 mods then they have to be on the complete opposite spectrum's. Having Grondie & CUTUP whom both are very nice and helpful would just be wrong since none rock anything smaller than Zatiny. If you asked them questions about Thanaz or anything in that range yeah they can give u the specifications but not an actual feel of how they fit. Just my .02 though...

My vote would go to Grondie & either Mannequin or Bio
