jskid, no offense as I have followed your posts and expertise for quite awhile, but these are special order cuts with a minimum order to get. Jeff and I have talked about others to be recut or even one of a kind washes in certain styles. So you would like to see a Thanaz in what wash?

so these will be different from the zathan 772 of the past? i'm confused now. i mean, i'm all for re-issuing older stuff and even more in favor of getting cuts made in washes they were not previously available in. its just that as far as zathan 772's go there are TONS of them already out there and readily available so i just fail to see the point of making more of that particular pair. unless there is going to be something special or different about these new ones to distinguish them from all the ones that have been sitting in diesel stock rooms for all these years.

and to whoever asked, outlets are doing send sales again now.

I think the point of re-issuing them for jjdenim might be that since they are (supposedly) selling high volumes of Diesel jeans, and they sold out all of their stock of 772's they had a few months back, its a good place to test out how re-issued denim will do, especially since they are one of the only online shops to send internationally.

I'm not positive, but I assume that a majority of consumers don't frequent this board and wouldn't know that they could pick them up from the outlets, much less order them over the phone and have them sent directly to their house...I'm sure some people don't even know that Diesel has outlet stores

I was going to say a bunch of shit but skidder pretty much said enough. skidder, why do you like 8bi??? It doesn't seem like a wash you would ever be interested in.
$220 doesn't even sound that bad considering that guy on here sells them used all the time for $300 with some damage here and there.

I didn't know they were abundant in outlets, maybe it's about time I buy myself a pair? All in all, I am not for reissuing older stuff because it kills the fun (and value) of hunting down and collecting various, wonderful pieces.

lets get some guy to hype them up on the forum calling them 'a small ultra rare-jjdenim only-forum members VIP only-get them before they are snatched up instantaneously-we know renzo and he will issue any cut/wash combo skidder desires as long as he endorses our website- i don't remember what I was talking about..something , something awesome zathan772website.com

oh yes, they are only 'limited'... to how many they can sell.

First of all, I am not hyping. Just letting people interested in the Zathan 772 know they will be available with a 2008 production date and detailing similar to that of the '03-'04 era. Jeff is a friend of mine and I give him credit for the contacts he has developed. Anyone truly in the know, know that Diesel will make a special order based on senior management approval and a price with a minimum order... just like the Koffha J1J was made for them.

8aa is too similar to 88z to warrant a thanaz 88z. i'd rather see 81m or 8ih in thanaz as jskidder said.

if jjdenim could get some stock of thanaz 71b i'd shell out big bucks

seeing as though we're on the topic does anyone know when hand distressing officially stopped i've only ever seen one pair of zathan 772's the ones i own and they're form jan 04-any guesses on whether these were hand distressed, is there a way to tell?

both sides seem to be making fairly valid points IMO:

on one hand, this could be a great move by JJdenim, I totally understand a lot of what Skidder is saying, but at the same time I think you are giving the average consumer too much credit. Most people who would be purchasing Zathan 772s aren't really Diesel enthusiasts and don't really have much knowledge about jeans/jean purchasing etc. Since we all frequent this forum and have knowledge about outlets, valid ebay resellers, etc. most people on here probably wouldn't purchase from JJdenim, but mr. fake tan, joe schmo, wearing ed hardy purchaser would see them and think "Siq jeanz braaaaa, I got 2 git me a purrr."

In addition, if they do somehow manage to get pairs that are hand distressed I know there a lot of connossieurs (sp?) especially on this site that would gladly pay 220 for the older looking versions.

The idea of Diesel Reissuing stuff or releasing previously unavailable combos does sound kind of tasty though, Thanaz in 8bi or 796 (from the Zathan era) or Timmen 770 would be amazing.

What JJ is doing may or may not pass the HF smell test (depending on the the wash characteristics) but I trust that their read is correct far as customer appetites go. Where this goes is going to be interesting, because it's the closest thing we've seen to a Diesel/"Fanbase" kind of dialog. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there's the ability to engage Diesel at the "Lab Level." I think it's more or less a matter of "Yeah, this is how we do 772 now. What's the big deal?"

This could be the start of an interesting posthumous life for Zathan. It's almost like all of the 2pac "special edition" albums that have blighted WalMart for the past decade.

Now only if we could get some more 713s.

you should really convince this dude to convince Diesel to re-issue Zathan 764 or even Thanaz 71J. Or pretty much any other retired wash/style other than boring ol' Zathan 772. Even X-Rotuck 796, geez. Anyway, kudos to JJDenim for catering to the hardcore Diesel fans, but there are MUCH more coveted styles which would make a hell of a lot more sense to reproduce than the most ubiquitous pair in Diesel history. i really don't think there's much of an interest either on here or elsewhere. just my 2 cents.
