Share your thoughts on Converse sneakers

Ok, so I know alot of people around here don't like Converse because they are so common, etc. But, I am about to be a mommy of two under 3 yrs old and I am not one to run around in heels because well, that doesn't work for me. So, I am looking to get a pair of canvas sneakers to wear with my jeans, etc that are cute, but not too EMO because that's not me either. Anyways, I haven't owned a pair of Converse all stars in about 10 years!

Here are the two I am looking at:

1. Converse lo's in Charcoal:

converse chuck taylor all-star low top coal - rapunzel's closet

or

2. Jack Purcell's in Navy (I like the white but they would never stay clean)

converse jack purcell cp navy/white - rapunzel's closet

Never owned Jack Purcell's. Heard they were pretty comfy, but wasn't sure. SO, your thoughts are welcome. Thanks!

To me, Chucks will always be a no-fail, grab-when-I-need-to-run-around-in-something-comfy pair of shoes. I've loved them since I was a kid & I still do now. I like that I can wear them with just about anything... shorts, a skirt, a dress, and of course, jeans.

The Purcell's are nice but I love the Converse's more.

I don't wear chucks. I dont have anything against it, I just dont wear them anymore.
i wear asics onitsuka or vans. they have more choices when it comes to designs/colors.

i like them both, but i prefer jacks. chucks make my foot look longer (i wear an 8.5 and i'm only 5'2")

Nothing special

They look like Keds. You can find something at Wal-Mart for a lot less than Converse.

I used to wear red All-Stars in college

i don't like the toes on the purcells...reminds me of young kids shoes. i like converse....like sillywahine said, they're the go-to shoes for when you don't want to think. i don't know what it is about converse, but even if they're the white ones with red and blue detailing or the black/white versions....they go with EVERYTHING. whereas my other sneaks that are wayyy more itneresting are just so hard to match.

i guess what i like is that they're not blah, but at the same time they don't overpower the outfit.
