I'm having trouble choosing. I think I've ruled out the buckle ones on the basis of cost and quality (thanks Tee and others), but I think I'm going to take advantage of those markdowns Riot posted...so help me choose two of these four:

Suede:

Non-suede:

Perforated:

Non-Perf'd:

I would go with the second and thrid one

I like the perforation (#3), but I'm not sure about its fir for my purposes...if it's hot enough to need perforated boots, it might be too hot for this little furnace to wear anything but flip-flops.

I also think that very dark shoes/boots are somewhat limiting unless you have a lot of dark jeans. but I guess I do now...keep the opinions coming guys (thanks Omega)

#3 or #4. the other 2 are awful.

James, I'm never going to get offended by your bluntness, but sometimes I need an explanation for it.

Is it that you don't like boots with elasticized gores? Or is it something else (shape, color, etc)?
I have to agree with Mr. Skidder on this one...elastic just doesn't look right. 3 & 4 are also my picks.
elastic goes with a chelsea boot and nothing else. when used on a more western-rugged style of boot it is just out of place. i also particularly dislike a suede boot and that first one i hate even more than usual due to the elastic as mentioned and the fact that there is such a sharp color contrast between the boot and the gore. the second ones are better, but not as good as the last 2 by any means.

Thank you for the clarification. I agree for the most part, but why no love for the suede boots? Tee expressed the same opinion when we discussed it via PM.
suede belongs on an oxford, not a boot and especially not that boot. it is a very delicate leather and is out of its element on a boot that is meant to be/look rugged.

not to mention what a bitch it is to maintain and care for a suede shoe.
You are appealing to my old-school sensibilities with the comment about the Oxfords. I do have a pair of suede boots but they are darker and less soft than the ones I linked. Thanks all for your opinions, I think I will take them to heart and order the second and third pairs. It's the second-cheapest option and probably the most practical.

what do you think?

Jealous??? and you REALLY looked at all the posts. Life needed...
2 of them were in this subforum and the other one was in a thread in the diesel subforum (which is where i am usually) so they weren't too hard to find

ETA: just noticed you made 4 posts about the exact same shoe... 2 of them in this thread and one right after the other. is it really that necessary?
I forgot to post the other pic, just wanted to show a different angle or look. is that alright. Sorry, I'm new to forums and don't know the etiquitte. I'm assuming people are getting two posts b/c of it and i didn't realize it works that way.

but, i've noticed that new people to forums are treated pretty bad, is this a trend. do i have to earn my stripes or is this a private forum
