I need something more functional, though. Those would slip and slide all over the place (especially if I ever got off the sidewalk). I'm looking for something rugged, well built, and at the same time comfortable. I have some KK side zips that I bought 8 years ago that are similar to those, but more of a squared off toe. They have the leather soles in case I ever need to re-sole them. I will post pics if I get a chance. I might sell them actually. I like TBC ones because I think they'll look pretty bad ass once they are broken in. I bet I could get them re-soled by a decent cobbler, too. I'm pretty sure that TBC is some offshoot of Timberland for their higher end boots. I actually own a pair of TL right now, they rock. They are comfortable, but like you point out, probably junk after a year of good use.

I had my order cancelled once, then re-ordered. If this order goes through, I'll post some detailed pics of the build quality. Maybe I'll get lucky and they won't be half bad.

I forgot to add, they were listed at 300, but I got the 30% off from revolve, so they ended up being 210 shipped.

I'm going to play devils advocate here. The Tim's can be resoled. It probably would be more pricey than resoling the leather soles on the OC's, but the soles on the OC's are not made to deal with snow/salt. If you try walking through snow/rain/salty weather, the leather soles will soak through and your feet will get wet. So, I think that depending on where you are/what the weather is like, one boot may or not be better than the other. Of course, you could get a vibram rubber outsole on the OC's and then you wouldn't have to deal with moisture soaking up through the leather soles.

this is not to say that i like the tims design, but they are functional

I realized that when he commented back with the functionality in the last post after mine. In this whole discussion he never mentioned where he lived and just said he was looking for boots/shoes for Zathan /Zatiny.

i hated reading that you wanted him to look at the leather sole on the Officine Creative - truly the worst leather sole i have ever seen. As i mentioned many pages back, i spent years working in a shoe repair as a kid, and the OC have shit soles - which is why i returned mine (and since i really wanted brown but could only fine black). In any case, that's a sole that i would have replaced even when new.

The tims too can be resoled - just as easily in fact! Most likely a glue on rubber sole that you can just slap on a new rubber sole on to.

Funny that you mention that. When I was a kid, I used to go to this shoe repair shop with my dad. I think they could have put a sole on anything, no matter what.

Sun, I grabbed the first example i saw which was around the same style and price range ($210-$300). I thought it would have been to pretentious to post CCP's or Augusta's. HaHaHa. GCR, Sunman definitely knows his high end shoes maybe he can help you find exactly what your looking for. I know i've taken some of his tips to help me find boots/shoes that ive been searching for.

I hear ya - they do have a leather sole - it's just bizarre that it's in pieces of horizontal strips. Anyway, i don't even remember the initial question, but if you're looking for inexpensive boots like the officine creative in brown, i'm no help - can't find them myself

But if you have shoe construction questions, i'm good - i've taken apart and put together countless shoes in reconstructing them to their original glory

you mean ccp boots or ccp derbies? i haven't owned a pair of them yet. but i think ccp boots run 1-1.5 bigger & ccp derbies run 1,5-2 bigger. i really want a pair of boots and derbies so bad...but i'm so fucking broke now, and saving money for my trip on next month.

I would say CCP's run 1 size bigger than average. I don't know where this 2 sizes bigger stuff comes from. My Augusta's are tts.

They are Nudies, but I don't know which ones. There was some photo shoot posted on some nudie forums and I saw the boots there. Bunch of cool looking Nudie jeans, but totally worn in and broken in and taken through the process.

So I received my cp's from carve in the mail [white achilles size 41] and they are a little too big for me. I can't really return them, would it be possible to just bring them into barneys new and unworn and say it was a gift to see if they will exchange me for a pair of size 40? Any advice about this?

I personally wouldn't see a problem with it myself. They are getting the same thign in return. You might attract a little bit of bad karma telling them that you got it as a gift though, when you really didn't.
