I had a BEAUTIFUL pair of SFAM black crystal patch jeans that I bought about 3-4 months ago, and now, they're all faded and grey! Is there anything I can do? The top layer of color seems to be nearly completley gone! I suppose it's my fault since I do my own laundry and such (badly), but perhaps there's something I can do?

Makes me sad to have to look at them.


One other thing that makes me sad- either all my pants have shrunk an inch (highly likely) or I grew an inch (highly unlikely) because I've noticed that 2-3 pairs of my jeans are too short!

Have you been washing them inside out in cold water and hang to dry?

Yeah, to keep the color from running, wash them in cold water, inside out. It'll help what color is left of them

cold water,washing inside out and adding some vinegar would be helpul

That has happened to mine as well, they have like white streaks across them. I always wash my jeans on a cold wash. I'm thinking of dyeing them as I've done this before with black jeans and its worked.

I always wait and wash my jeans together, inside out, with the dark laundry detergent on cold. I do dry them in the dryer on delicate. I've not had a pair fade yet, but I don't own any black.

I was thinking of doing that, but wouldn't it run? It could make them look really nice though... Hmm...

No, i done it to another pair of black SFAM. I got the one you put in the washing machine. It worked, they looked good as new. I hate when black jeans fade, they look like crap.

+1 to the vinegar. i did this with all my black clothes when i worked for a place that required you to wear all black

When the jeans are wet, you can pull at the hems to stretch them a little if you need more length. It worked for me with CAE flynts, hope it helps with your jeans.

I've never heard of using vinegar.. but wouldn't that make them smell? How do you keep your jeans from smelling like vinegar?

Technically you should do the vinegar trick when they are new. I have soaked my black clothes in vinegar and water for a couple of hours and then I washed them with reqular detergent and cold water in the washing machine. The trick is that vinegar sets the dye. Shouldn't smell like vinegar.

I feel your pain about the shrinkage though....it seems my SFAM shrink especially in length. I like a 33 in inseam with heels but I think some of mine have shrunk from a 34 to a 32. My favorite pair is pilling???? What is the deal with that? They did that after the first couple of washes and it has only gotten worse.

OOOH ok that makes sense. I will definately try that if I buy black jeans

buy some RIT dye. That should work pretty easily.
