Imperial Dukes *Pics*

First off, despite the recommendation of some, I did end up parting with my Flathead F310s due to tightness in the thighs. As a replacement, however, I picked up a pair of Imperial Dukes in indigo and I love them. As a reference, I went with my "normal" Diesel size 36 and while tough to button, they should break in well in my opinion. (I was scared to drop down to 34 after my F310 experience. I never post pics, but thought I'd share because I haven't seen a ton of discussion on Imperials.)

Anyway, I think the Dukes are a sick pair of jeans and worth checking out if you're looking for something new. I dig the fit and the denim is a little smoother than the Flathead. The inseams are really long - like 37-38 inches. Other than that I can't offer much for comparison.

imperial denim is really nice, and i have seen some awesome fades on it. the duke cut is usually too baggy for my taste but it seems to suit you pretty well.

Yeah, if the Duke cut looks that baggy I can't imagine what the Kings looks like. Beautiful back pockets though!

too baggy? The duke measures smaller than the flat head f310 (pre soak in the same tagged size). My dukes are one size smaller than my 310's but they were TIGHT to start with, stretched a good bit, and now fit like a dream. There like 5 months old, maybe 2 or 3 months of wear. Ill post pictures soon in the progress thread


edit Steve probably should have sized down one though...

ya, mine were extremely tight at first, I wouldnt wear them out of the house for the first couple weeks! Im by no means your "normal" superskinny poster on sufu... I have bigger thighs from mountain biking and sized up one from my nudies size and I'm very happy with fit now. Im going to take fit and progress pictures tomorrow and ill be sure to post them.

Here are my Dukes at about 5 month (2-3 months actual wear). Hope it's ok that I put them in here also, might as well make this the Imperial thread instead of everyone starting a new one for their pair. These have obviously stretched quite a bit as they were extremely tight to begin with. I also had to size up one (from my nudie and diesel size, not true waist) because of my thighs so the lower half isn't exactly as slim as I would like it, but for all you guys with skinny legs should have no problem getting your true size or even sized down one for a much slimmer look. I'll also post some better shots in the progress thread.

i actually don't think dukes look as good on really skinny guys because the lower leg is not slim enough. and the hips are cut too narrow to sag the way i prefer. i definitely think they look better on bigger guys because they tend to look slimmer on them.

ya the slim hips combined with a very high rise make them really awkward to sag... The pockets are also really long, making them look like they are sagged even when they are worn high. I like them though since I am a bigger guy (6'2" 185) and they work well with my body after I went through a painful two weeks of stretching. I would like this cut a lot more if it wasn't so high/tight in the rise...

jskidder: I agree. The Duke cut does seem to fit well on bigger guys like myself.

skistar: Yeah, the biggest issue was the sizing. I was a little gun shy about dropping down after trying that with the F310s. Anyway, I like the Dukes a lot. I hope they won't stretch too much down the road. BTW, Your fit is solid and your pair looks like it's breaking in nicely.

I look forward to documenting the progress of these bad boys.

thanks! I have the F310 also but I had to size up one from my Duke since the Flat Heads are so slim. I don't think your Dukes will stretch too much since they aren't very tight to start with. I made mine stretch because I probably got one size too small and forced myself to wear them through a couple weeks of pain. Imperials are known for not stretching much though so you should be alright. Look forward to seeing your progress!
