hahah you guys are terrible! Congrats GUEST! I hope to be there soon. Right now I'm at the "poor, but hey it won't be that hard to save for x, and x, and x...."

Does anyone else do that? When I make money I am so stingy, and then when I have no money it's like I can afford anything, it's no biggie.

j1n1i14, thanks for the kind words. Actually, everyone in this thread has been really supportive and I've pretty much forgotten about that loser. I honestly don't think I could have done it without the support of all you kind gals. He can text me all he wants, he'll won't get a reply. Ever.

So I managed to go through the Yorkville area today without much damage. Yorkville is like Los Angeles' version of Rodeo Dr. or Chicago's Golden Mile. I passed by this cheap jewelry store named Ardenes and they specialize in disposable fashion accessories. They had a ring that looked somewhat like Louis Vuitton's Inclusion ring and so I couldn't help but look. I ended up buying 3 rings for $10 and then a silk lace tie (I've always wanted to rock one). Total was $20ish damage. Not bad!

Then I went to Tiffany's to return the ex's so-called gifts... I think I've found my perfect right hand ring. It's a lot more than what I wanted to spend, but the ring is gorgeous! It was quoted at $2350.

Annie, you are now going overboard honey!! You don't need a ring!! Patience girl, someday you will find Mr. Right instead of Mr. Snake and he will buy you the RIGHT ring, instead of a snake ring

I've still not bought myself, my BF or my kids anything. I bought a pair of jeans for someone to crystalize them for her, but thats technically not a ban break as she is paying me back and paying me for crystalizing them

I couldn't help but swoon a little at seeing your ring, but Dian definitely has a point-- leave the diamond buying to Mr. Right

I ordered some more MAC pigment samples today from the HM, but I needed some plum/pinkish shades for a formal I'm going to next Friday, and they were cheaper than the dept. store counters. I'm finding cheaper ways to save, so that's a plus, right?

But the whole point of the right hand ring is to declare your independence from any guy or the guy. Know what I mean? In retrospect, $2350 is really expensive and I'm checking out ice.com and their prices are by far more reasonable. I'll try to get the specs of the original Tiffany's ring and see if I can find something similiar on ice.com for 1/4 of the price. But it's Tiffany's y'know... I want the whole Tiffany's fantasy of having beautiful diamonds. And they are beautiful.

The ring idea is fine, but a $2k price tag is excessive, especially since you're on a ban. Wouldn't it be better to spend $350 on a ring, and put the rest in an emergency savings account so you'll always have a way out if you get into another bad relationship? Price does not equal signifance or sentimental value. A ring is a ring imo.

I should know better... May I'll just go to the mall and get a cheapy plain ring and have it engraved with "don't settle" until I can get the real one. (But then I would be settling!) The thing is, I wanted to use his money as a literal token to remind me not to ever settle again.

SKIP THE RING ALTOGETHER!

You don't need it and available guys might confuse it with the real thing, half the guys out there don't pay that much attention if they are looking at your right hand or left, they see a ring, they run LOL

Or if a good guy comes along and see this really expensive ring on your hand he might think he can't compete with that.....SKIP IT and use it on your CC debt.

I started doing a new thing... I'm wearing a plastic rubber band on my right wrist. For every dollar I spend, I snap myself once. Considering yesterday's damage, which was $110 (90 drinks, 20 jewelry). I am 105 snaps away. I am really hurting myself with this spending.

You're welcome We all fall off the bandwagon from time to time.

Incidentally, I think I'm going to get the iPod touch (damage $340). I think I'll really like it, and I promise if I don't 100000000% love it, I'll resell. This is definitely my last big purchase before my vacation. Luckily, I lost my ATM card about 3 weeks ago, so I've made no cash withdrawals from my account AND I no longer feel the compulsion to buy more jeans. The second I get them in the mail, I'll resell. I don't need them after all.

On the side note: I guess I didn't buy anything. I'm going to admit, I tried bidding on the jeans two sizes too big. I was so certain that I would have won them too because of the high price I put on my snipers.. yet I still got outbid.

hahaha izzy you make me laugh. im glad im not alone!!! i hide things all the time as well. i get caught most of the time though. i think he has every article of clothing and accessory i own memorized. i can occasionally sneak in jeans without him noticing!

i must admit, as much as i didnt want to be part of this 'ban,' reading all the posts has REALLY helped me not shop! the only money ive spent lately is my bday money!! all my 'weekly' money from my paycheck has been going straight to the cc's to pay them off! hopefully i can sell everything ive listed......then ill be back to even and ready to shop again!!
