I think I am going to somewhat retire these jeans because I have two more pairs I want to focus on more. These are samurai S5000VX that I purchased last summer. Don't recall exactly when they were purchased maybe 8-9 months ago? Especially in the beginning I was swapping them out a lot with another pair so probably 6ish months of total actual wear. They've been repaired at 45RPM once already for crotch blowout and huge tears at the cuffs. I washed every 4-6 weeks and a couple of times every 2 weeks so probably 8-9 washes total. Photos next to a brand new pair of iron hearts for color comparison. Photos have not been adjusted in any way but the ones which look more contrasty were taken under more direct sunlight from an east-facing window in my apartment with no flash...

with flash:

Details, under more direct light, no flash:

my wallet pretty much ate the back right pocket:

Is it just me or is crotch blowing a common problem with raw denim?
Not just you - generally it's because people dont wash them enough. Mine was pretty minor but I couldn't wear it to work that way so it had to get fixed.
If you wash more the crotch will blow later?
Wow... how did they get away with the Levi's-esque seagull stitching?
I purchased them via a proxy just before the whole levi's lawsuit debacle.

edit: wait, are you talking about the sams or the iron hearts? The iron hearts I just got from selfedge when I was in SF, so evidently leivs is OK with those since iron heart was one of the brands they were suing.

I'm working on breaking in my second pair of MIJ 19cm. These were worn for 2 months (never washed). So far, they're coming along pretty good except for the lap which seems to be lagging. I hope they come out better than my other washed pair.

your MIJ's look great man!

Jean shop bootcut raws: 60 wears, 1 cold soak around wear 40

not the best pictures but I was in a hurry at the time-- finally getting some dye loss in the knee honeycombs (the lap creases faded first)
