"There were times when I was wearing them 7 days a week but there were as well times I hardly wore them at all. I think I warm soaked them after 4 months of regular wear. Probarbly after 60 wears. I guess I then put another 100-130 wears into them and washed them afterwards at 30 degrees with something like woolite dark/black. I cycled them at 1000 rpm (or even more) which caused two funny washed out lines (very decent). At first I was shocked but soon started to like them. Since then I only cycle them at 400 rpm though.
The shine stayed after the soak but disappeared after the wash. If you like the shine keep away from washing as long as possible and rather soak them.
As they stretched a lot, I washed them regularly every four months after the initial wash to keep the shape. (btw I sized down to a 28 this time, not sure if that was the right choice)
If you want to speed up the roping at the hem, you can soak just the hem from time to time. I might do that this time, not sure though. "
