Opinions needed! Do Coach bags retain their value?

I got a Coach gift card for xmas ($125), but there isn't really anything on the site that I like that's within that budget. I was considering maybe saving up and splurging on a really nice bag, but I don't want to buy a $375+ bag (I'm not a big spender) if it'll be worthless once I take the tags off. Any experience selling more expensive coach bags? Is it worth it or should I try to buy something within the budget or sell the card as is?

I don't think they retain their value b/c there's so many outlets and they always go on sale at Macy*s and other retailers. But if you like the bag, just buy it- or something smaller like a wallet/clutch.

ive always had really good experiences when selling my coach stuff on ebay!! the outlets mostly carry stuff that was specifically made for the outlet, not the stuff you find in the retail store/online. dont get me wrong, you can def find stuff at the outlet that is current in the store/online, but it's harder to find and you basically have to be lucky.

so i guess if i were you, id save for the bag if you really want it. (and/or wait until another 25% coupon comes out)

last year i rec'd a gift card for the same amt and i ended up buying a demi bag just because i didnt want to spend any money.......and i RARELY use it. it's just too small!

or you could always get another pair of sunglasses!

It depends on the item. There are certain styles from seasons ago that actually resell above retail.

I don't think they really do. Since there are discounts and sales in stores, outlets, and vendors.

There are some bags that are more popular that do like the Carly.

In my experience, they work kind of like trading up jeans. You will never get what you paid, but you can sure make a nice chunk of change reselling on ebay to put toward something new when you are ready for a change.

The carly bag sells well and so do the reversible totes. I think Hamptons do well too.

Oh, one last thing. Then there are items that practically cannot be resold at all. You're looking at a profit loss of at least 60% of the initial stated retail price.
