swollen face...

UGH. I'm so sick, I have pretty much the worse viral infection in my head (eyes lead to sinuses, lead to ears, lead to throut).

Worst part? Half my face is swollen. Pretty much my lower eye, to my nose, and my right cheek are all puffy and gross. Cold things aren't helping, and I'm desperate for something because the pressure is hurting me! Anyone know of anything (an eye cream maybe?) or some old wives tales to get rid of it. I don't have cucumbers here or I would have tried that (I'm in NO condition to hit up a store).

Help me.... I have to give a presentation tomorrow (please note I'm being a whiney boob and am super embarassed to stand up infront of my class like this).

ideas? ugh....

I know this sounds gross, but do a sinus flush. I have chronic sinusitis and I do them every once in a while when it gets really bad. If you have pickling salt that works best. Basically you use warm water, let the salt dissolve, leave over the sink with your head tilted a little and use something to pour it into your nose. It might take a bit to run out the other nostril, but it will eventually work to get the junk out. On thing that I have found too that works great is Drixoral nasal spray. Even if you can't breath at all, stray 2 squirts per nostril and tilt your head back for about 5 minutes then blow your nose. That shit is amazing, you can actually hear it eating away at the mucus. Hope you feel better soon

^ thanks for the tip. I'm going to do that when I get home, and I guess just suck it up for the presentation. At least my mouth isn't pulled over yesterday (at least not as noticably)

Maybe try some green tea bags? seems like they 'depuff' but I can't remember, maybe that was just for the eyes

Ibuprophin will help to reduce the swelling, as will a cold pack to the face while you lay down.

The sinus flushing is also a great idea, as the cleaner your sinuses are , the less they will be inflamed

I support basically everything that has been said here so far, and I hope you feel better soon. That sounds positively miserable.

aw thanks everyone. The swelling has moved (or maybe I just didn't notice it before because of the Hunch-back of Notre Dame eye) to my lower face more than anything. I'm going to go to the sinus flush, take ibprofine, and chill out.
