World cup 2006 - Germany - Page 7

YES! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FRANCE!!!

my dark horse has come through! WOOOO what a win

Zidane and Vieira were SUBLIME in midfield. The two most influencial players in midfield had great games.

Zidane's superbly weighted cross to Henry for the goal was a piece of Magic. Dont know what the defense was doing though. You can't leave a player like Henry unmarked and not expect to be punished.

The final few moments were intense though, Barthez made me a bit nervous.

France did it in the final in 98' and now they have done it in the quarters!

I can only say that:

1- Zidane is great. He totally dominated the field today. He deserves is..he plays sublime football.
2- Half the team played like s**t. Kaka was absent from this match. Freaking Ronaldinho Gaucho could have might as well stayed in Barcelona and watched from TV. From WC day 1 he complained that his game wasnt there because he was playing at a different position. Then he was put there, in attack, with ronaldo and did s**t. I guess he couldnt handle all the publicity and expectations around him. Cafu and R. Carlos only played because of the hole lobby around them. They are history. Cicinho and Gilberto were flying on the training sessions. I really expected more from these 4 players.
3- Coach parreira is a freaking dum***s. I hope he gets kicked out of command. he didnt let the best players in and made horrible subs.
4- On the goal play....did u guys see where roberto carlos was?? WATCHING henry waltz in the box all by himself!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did he forget he's only one of the best strikers in the whole world?????

Bottom line, we did have, at least on paper, a better team, but France deserves the credit and the win. Tactically, they were perfect. Props to the coach too...that understood that he wouldnt get a lot of heat from the wings, locked in the midfield and set up a way to give zidane extreme space to play. And so he did. Bravo maestro!

who knows what the Brasil defense was doing during that cross, it was 5 Frenchies vs 3 Brasilians. the remaining 7 were a few yards outside the box watching Zidane take the free kick.

germany and france!

the french were my dark horse to win this world cup.... Zidane needs to go out in style!!

Against Brazil he was magnificent in midfield, in the past few days he has played as well as he did back in 98'. Former Arsenal skipper Vieira was great as the defensive midfielder, he was involved with everything.

GO FRANCE!

Final 4:
Germany - have played extremely well this tournament, all players have been consistent. Podolski and Klose have played brilliantly together. Had high hopes of watching Podolski in action, started slow this tournament but has really kicked into gear since the 2nd round. Bayern Munich fans will be extremely pleased they picked him up! I was actually really disappointed when Khan was dropped as the No 1, he is an ANIMAL! Love the guy. But Lehmann proved his worth with some brilliant goal keeping.

Portugal - I actually thought they weren't going to win, with Deco and Constinha out and half the team on yellow cards and Cristiano a bit sore... I had my doubts but they made me eat my hat! Scolari maintains his unbeaten run against Sven. Maniche is one of the most under-rated players. He really does need to leave Chelsea.

Italy - For some reason they came out and stunned everyone and attacked... I was expecting them to sit back and wait... and then wait... and then wait. Don't really want them to win, the team is very technical and are boring to watch. The Azurri's are the only ones I can really think of that don't mind winning at any costs.

France - Dark horses. Very fortunate to make it past the Group stages. They peaking at the right time. They really did make Brasil look like amatuers. Zidane and Vieira are showing the world and their critics they can still play at the top level. Henry is looking every so dangerous around the goals, something that he lacked during first few games. And who can forget Barthez, I do think he's way past his prime but he has shown he still is the French No.1.

Hoping for a Germany v France final

oh how about the sending off with Rooney... LOL, I didnt see the incident Live, I only saw the replay. I know he meant to do it, but did he apply pressure to it?

He has already left Chelsea, he was only on loan to them and went back to Russia at the end of the season

dammit.... Italy... DAMN!

the first goal was a very well taken goal, but he should have never ever been unmarked like that at such a late stage... then del piero's was the icing on the cake.

bleh... closing ceremony and then kick-off!

How well did Bastiawenger (lol sp?) play for Germany yesterday. The first goal was good, but how GOOD was the 2nd one... it made me go OMG!
They must have wished they played that well against Italy in the semi's.

Zidane's swansong... Cmon Les Bleus! Probably a few other Frenchies last World Cup... Vieira, Thuram, Barthez... all the old school work horses.

I just love this... these have been popping up around some of the popular "Italian" night spots.

I hope Henry doesn't do any diving today... he's a much better player than that.

GO FRANCE! DO IT FOR ZIZOU!

That's a pretty broad, and frankly, ignorant generalization there.
