How to take care of boots?

I recently bought a few expensive boots, some leather some goatskin, and i'd like to take good care of them. What products would you recommend for cleaning and do you waterproof them as well? Any other suggestions are appreciated

I like Frye mink oil for weatherproofing... it temporarily darkens the leather until they dry, so don't freak out if you use it

Keep your boots in a dust bag if possible, also! Dust is very detrimental to leather in the long run. Also, the shaft of the boot should be kept as upright as possible so they don't bend in the wrong place! Then they take on your personal shape instead of the 'lying crunched up in the closet' shape Enjoy.

I put neatsfoot oil on once a year and I keep mine on a boot rack upside down, of course I only own cowboy boots at the moment so I no idea of the best way to keep slouchy boots.
