What do you suggest and for how long? I have never done it before but am interested in trying a cleanse...I've been hearing a lot about it lately.

Thanks in advance everyone!

i've heard good stuff about the lemonaid & cabbage soup diet... basically you just want to eat raw, organic foods and fruits/veggies and drink lots of water, etc

me too, it would take a lot of discipline thats for sure! I love food! hehe I just want to lose like 5 more pounds, so I dont think I'd have to do it for too long?

it recomends 10 days or so until your body has got rid of all the toxins and your tongue returns back to a pinky colour so i guess it depends how intoxicated you are lol. i might start it next week after i get my mum to agree. Its gonna be tough not eating though lol, what if it tastes awful too eew. should we do it together lol?

Lets do it together! I bet it doesnt taste all that great, but it would be interesting to try! 10 days is a long time to hold out...but I think I can do it.

What do you say?

the lemonade diet is also known as the "master cleanse" .. it's the same thing as the diet beyonce did.. you can find more info at their website: http://therawfoodsite.com/mastercleanse.htm

a cleansing diet,or vegetable soup, cardboard diet etc is a good way to kickstart your diet...then what?

you are going to gain the weight back unless you make lifestyle changes

forget what the celebrities do...look at oprah. She is worth billions, has a personal chef, persomal trainer, nutritionist, dietition etc... she is a joke...the reason she doesnt keep the weight off long term,is that she reverts to her old eating habits...classic yo yo dieter

if you cant control the junk food, just dont buy it

are these cleansing things healthy? I think they sound interesting, would like to try it to see if I have the discipline to do it, but it sounds almost like fasting and I feel like Id get really weak during it...what about if you work out? are you supposed to stop exercising during the cleansing process?
forget working out if you go a cleansing diet...no exercise at all, otherwise you will have no energy
post #17 of 36
yeah the purpose of the cleanse is literally to cleanse OR to start on a different plan in which you keep the weight off, you would literally gain it right back and it's def UNHEALTHY if you are only doing it as a quick way to lose weight.. it's not good for your metabolism either. but if you just need the weight loss as motivation and then plan to start a new meal regime and perhaps add regular workouts to your schedule it can help.

i agree with the person above me though, don't try to workout while on the diet. you will be feeling very weak and it would not be a good idea.

I wouldnt use cleansing detoxes as a diet, they are purely for ridding your body of toxins not a long term weight loss thing, they just clear out your body of all the bad so your organs can work better therefor helping you to lose weight on whatever diet plan you are doing after.
You lose on a fast but you also gain it back when you start eating. The purpose of fasting is to stop digestion, which take up to 80% of your energy to do, and use that energy to heal the body as well as detox. It's not really to lose weight.

If you want to lose a quick 5 pounds do colon cleansing with the Scarsdale diet, a medical diet for diabetics to drop weight before a surgery. It's 2 weeks and you can lose up to 10 lbs. I did it a few years ago and lost 8 pounds which didn't come back. It lso helps to curb sugar and other food cravings.

you will only keep the weight off if you readjust your eating habits

remember if you lose 10lbs,you will lose fat and muscle, but if you put the weight back on,it will be all fat...the weight will go back to different parts of your body...you will look flabbier and you body composition has changed...

^ I adjusted my eating habits long term. The only way to lose weight, and the proper way to lose weight, is to adjust your eating habits in combination with an excercise program.

Good news is Miss Pookie is very much into excersize and takes very good care of her body. She has abs of envy!
^its the only healthy way to do it.I have not eaten junk food for 5 years.I dont miss it.I am a bit extreme. As my wife would say to me"peter, you are f....d,just eat a slice of pizza".

The only way you dont sabotage your diet,is to have no junk food at home ,and to learn how to read the nutrional information on products.

Its very hard for a woman to have great abs.Alot of women have alot of fat deposits around their stomach and hip area.Men tend to have it around the love handles and lower back

misspookie, lets have a pic of those abs

I dont eat junk food at all really, just the occasional chocolate bar. I am not a fan of chips or twinkies & such. So if I were to say do the cabbage soup diet, how can I keep it off once I'm done the 1 or 2 weeks? How long would you suggest I do it for? I'm 120lbs and about 5'4" tall...I only want to lose about 5lbs or so...

Thats interesting, where can you get Scarsdale? a local drug mart? what is it exactly? I have never heard of it. hehe

Why is that you never gained the 8lbs back? sorry for all the questions, I am so interested in learning about this stuff.
