I guess hes one of those internet tough guys.

all this talk about excessive force is dumb.

he wasn't asking uncomfortable questions, he was asking irrelevant and meaningless questions. everyone there but him was just thrilled to have a goddam senator in front of them, responding to them...except him. the cops were quite nice to let him go on as long as they did - he kept shouting and trying to get back in the center of attention after they told him he was done. it's no longer freedom of speech or the right to peaceably assemble when you're causing a ruckus.

trust me; i've been arrested violently, tasered, and had an entire canister of pepper spray emptied in my eyes, nose, and mouth. i'd take the taser any day (hell, the reason they have them is because it's a much less violent form of subduing jackasses like him).

and you know what? looking back now, i fuckin' deserved it.

edit:

words of wisdom for today: you always lose the first round with the cops

^^ yeah, i actually found a video of sigmatics last encounter with the po-po.

thank jesus for revitalizing chickens, amirite
post #32 of 99
There was no need to taser him. There were plenty of cops around to handle the situation. It was an abuse of power, because even though they could justify the use of the taser, saying he was out of control, it was in no way necessary. It was overkill. I agree the kid in the video should have been more cooperative, but still, you don't taser an UNARMED individual when there are 5-6 cops around.

Honestly he didn't deserve to be placed under arrest imo. I would have resisted arrest to.

I opened this thread expecting to see photos of..

A sheltie, having sex with a hamster, having sex with a goldfish, having sex with a yellow crested cockatoo.

My question was what would someone do if they were one of the cops.

Anyone who resists arrest will get the tazer when a large crowd is around. The first priority is the innocent people who they cannot let get hurt by his flailing around and acting like an idiot. If one of them had gotten hurt people would then demand to know why the cops didn’t do more to prevent it.

It still seems overly dramatic and excessive

On another video, they said that Kerry continued to answer his question while he was being tasered.

This nation is so spoiled.
^^True and most kids are just getting more and more whiny and selfish. Everything that they have has been handed to them and yet even rich kids walk around like society owes them something. Its really a low down dirty shame. This really has nothing to do with this thread but I thought I would post it anyway.

It's not really about whether the guy was acting stupid or not--in my opinion was was being loud and getting emotional which didn't help. But the police grabbed him for no reason. I would be pissed if I was grabbed by 2 police officers without knowing why, wouldn't you? They used excessive force which is really the kicker--five officers can't hold down a college kid? Come on. If you watch the video the students are laughing and generally amused until they hear the taser. Then they get upset.

The bigger issue at hand is the excessive use of police brutality, and ultimately, the slow erosion of civil liberties.

this is f**cking sick! what about freedom of speech these days? i know there are more worse situations named, but, what about respecting another person? serious.....

+1 for you yet again

I have just one question for anyone who believes force should never be used, and that tasering and any form of physical contact is "excessive"

What would you do then?

It seems that the majority of people who ALWAYS are the first to respond to these threads screaming bloody murder, and comparing people to fascists and hitler never have an answer to the question at hand

What would you do if the guy was acting off the wall on your property and around your kids, would you just politley keep asking him to leave?, even if he refused and started acting rowdy?

What if he never really hit you but made motions like he was going to, are you saying you would tell the police at the scene to " please dont taze/hurt him in any way, I am sure if you keep asking him nicely he will eventually leave"

These same people complain when a tazer is not used and the offender is carried away by more then one officer. I wonder how you would all feel if the guy was left alone to rant and rave and then pulled a gun out and shot innocent people.

I bet you people would be the first to cry about how pathetic law enforcement is and how they should have dragged the man out when he first started going off the deep end.

I know not all situations require force, and I know some cops do abuse their power. But if everyone could just chill and put themselves in the officers shoes sometimes, maybe they would have a better understanding of the situation.

If I wanted to show wit, you'd see it. I still am genuinely shocked that at least three people gave you +1's for that ridiculous statement of yours.
