im thinking of converting my zathans into straight legs, even a slight taper.
Has anyone one done it successfully?

only constructive advice please,im not in the mood for abuse from all the purist out there.I cop enough of that from my wife

Dude don't mess up your zathans, they're made with a bootcut, going and getting them tapered is just f*ed up. Buy vikers or something, why would you go and screw up a pair of Zathans for....haha I'm just messing around, it can be done, but make sure you trust your tailor...some tailors can really f things up...good luck bro

PURISM DOOD...LIVE IT OR DIE!

neh...f that...if you search for threads by 'billbonesknows' or 'ucla_denim_addiction' with Zathan 60F in the heading, you should find both their converted Zathans.

Also, there was a thread called "Uber Frankenstein Thread" or something to that effect. It had a ton of converted pairs...not just Zathan.

is spoke to diesel in australia, and they recommended their tailor who does this all the time.I was a bootcut fan,but im starting to waiver. And for those who think im crazy,i will confirm it by telling you that im considering doing it with zathan 82m and 82n

i have to take my medication now

I've thought of doing it to my 82M's also...but not like Thanaz cut, more like Zatiny cut...I appreciate having some bootcuts in the mix but Zathan 82M's leg opening is slightly larger than other Zathans as it is.

I still think your 82N's will stretch all over...and unless you plan to take in the thighs also they'll likely be too big in no time.

Hahaha, that's hilarious man. What size are you? If you're a 28 or 29 I'll buy your 82Ns from you and save them!

i dont know what the f... size i am anymore.Why cant a 30 be a f..... 30.Not a 29 or 32.I have tried size 30 jeans that vary from 28 to nearly 32-33

Rah me too i want my zathans become straight cut...for 71j and 772...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, please don't do taper your zathans

Easier to straighten Zathans that don't have too much fading and distressing. Things might look weird if not done to the T. Zathan 60F does look nice straightened though. However, I suggest you just shut your eyes and sell those Zathan 82Ms and call it a day.

Taking in the waist (as mentioned in the other thread) and straightening it would mean you better be sure you are in it for the long haul or be prepared to take a considerable loss if 1) the taylor F's it up. and 2) if/when you decide to sell, not getting the same money.

I bought my 86t tailored, it looks really good imo, kindof viker fit with a zathan feeling. Absolutely love it.

Really depend on the wash I think, some wash shouldn't be straightened, lighter one I think.

Do it! vincevtec did it to his 8BE's (?) and it looked nice. They're basically Farco's once you straighten them.

If it makes you wear em more then do it.

The only thing that takes a hit is the potential for selling.

I like my zathan 772 way more, now that its a straight leg.
Would never wear it when it was a bootcut.

I know its prob gonna be a hella lot more hard to sell now though.

i buy jeans to wear them, and look good in them.If i alter them and they are f... them up,so be it.I think people get a bit too anal.If you cant get a cut in the wash you want ,just professinally alter it.Diesel have recommended one the tailor that does all their alterations.Im going to experiment with a pair of fake zathans. He told he has converted over 50 pairs of zathans in straight legs,as alot of people are getting sick of bootcuts

I made my x-rotuck 796 into a straight leg and loving it. I have small feet and hate it when they touch the ground, need to do it to the zathan now, because they get no wear these days.

there's a vitriol filled post about how funny it will be when the trend pendulum swings back to bootcut and you are left with once-awesome butchered creations.

i think i wrote it. i don't have effort to re-do it. taking questions.

maybe, maybe not.But i wear the jeans for the moment.I want to look good in the jeans, not dated. This is coming from a guy who just had bootcuts.I was kidding myself, because i was trying justify my bootcut collection.I didnt feel like spending a fortune on straight leg or tapered jeans

Well,im not going to wait for the trend to come back.
