I know there are Pride celebrations going on all across North America.

I had tons of fun last night (minus the drama). Unfortunately, I won't make it to the parade today. My essay awaits my attention.

i think i had too much fun last night also...and didn't make it to the parade.

but i'm proud to have marched in the dyke march & partied at the windy pink party in SAN FRANCISCO...woo hoo, proudest city of them all

Why is "Gay Pride" something that needs to be celebrated with all kinds of weird outfits and costumes as well as flamboyant parades with people in drag and freaky designs like some sort of acid trip?

Why does there need to be crazy parades with people dancing around in their underwear and god knows what else at all?

I'm heterosexual and I don't dress up like a flamingo and go out and paint the town.

I was driving past boystown today right before the parade and saw a couple of "REPENT!" signs. Do these signholders actually think they're going to "convert" anyone? I mean seriously. The people who are wishy-washy in their beliefs and might be swayed by such a sign are not the ones that are going to be attending a pride parade.

Now back to the fun spirit of this thread.

I don't like being negged when people don't even take the time to answer my question. I don't care what sexuality someone is, but why do we need to celebrate it with wild colors, crazy dances, techno music, etc?

I was questioning why homosexual orientation needs to be expressed with crazy parades, wild colors, flamingos, people dancing in underwear, etc.

Stop with the hypothetical questions. I am curious why there are wild and crazy parades for homosexuality. Why can't it just be normal like heterosexual? I don't think there needs to be wild colors, acid trips, flamboyant dances, etc to express homosexuality.

Perhaps this isn't what I get:


That's Bloomingberg, NYC's Mayor, why can't sexual orientation just be kept where it belongs? There's nothing special about being gay that requires crazy colors and parades.



Or this? This is what I can't understand, why is all this required to express homosexual pride? I don't express hetereosexual pride by dressing up as the opposite sex.

To expound upon Zeitgeist's question in a non biased manner.... why are parades, rallies and "pride" shows necessary in general? The only display which truly seemed to have an impact for the better was the March on Washington, do pro-life rallies and gay pride parades accomplish anything worthwhile at all?

I expect no less than two negatives because of this post yet, somehow, no more than zero responses answering my question.
